Terrible news, healing wishes and well done to those who helps.

I'd have no idea what to do in that situation. Something I have to put right ASAP.

Can't add much else than what's already been said above but here's hoping for a speedy recovery

Mr Barnes,

Once upon a time you sent me a message. It was brief, but very important to me at the time, and I have no doubt it contributed (along with the comments of others) to my continued survival.

Get better, and get back on the bike.

Best wishes, recover well,

Bullheart

Get well soon Simon from this southern softy. Only met you once but found you a thoroughly decent bloke with the right idea about biking.

Hope you make a full recovery, Simon - you are probably the last person we'd expect to have heart issues!

I've been on a couple of Simons rides, they were splendid and I hope to go on a few more with him in the near future.

Get well soon Simon and I hope you are back on the bike soon.

I'm doing the BHF night ride next weekend, this has certainly added a depressing new dimension to it.
I'll be thinking of Simon all the way ๐Ÿ™

Get well quickly Simon!

I think there is a strong message in this thread about obtaining better knowledge regarding CPR. I know when i'm out, many of us are of an age where the increased heart rate is likely to increase the chances of heart issues. I wonder how many of us would be able to deal with the situation if it arose...

Blimey! Get yourself better Mr B! If you keep fighting, like you argue on the interweb, you're laughing!

Merlinman +1 - always assumed he was Mr Health! Glad he's stabilised and fingers crossed for a full and swift recovery - awful news ๐Ÿ™

For those asking about CPR, all you need to do is keep the blood circulating with chest compressions to the beat of Nellie the Elephant. Breathing for the casualty not so important but won't do any harm.

I think it's probably best to reserve this thread for good wishes for Simon's recovery.

A separate thread for thoughts about first aid, CPR, carrying aspirin, etc would be useful though.

Hoping for a quick recovery. His photos always kept this ex-Cumbrian just a little bit homesick.

Get well soon Simon, and thanks to the lads who were there for quick thinking / cool heads don't think I'd have been thinking straight in that situation.

Blackpool Vic is a fantastic Hospital IMO, they have saved 2 of my Mates in the past few years so Simon is in good hands.

Always shocking when fit and healthy people have heart attacks. I can't say we've ever seen eye to eye on anything, but all the very best to you Simon.

Shit, I saw something on FB yesterday from one of the Bogtrotters asking for contact details for Simon's son but all it said was he'd had "an off".

Best wishes for a swift recovery Simon.
