I've got a set of these on a new bike, wasn't sure what to expect after using Shimano for the last 5 years and loving the feel of the Big S's brakes. Almost just swapped them out and sold them but had a go and found them to be just as good. Only downside is after 120km I've worn through a set of pads! Just ordered some sintered and kevlar.

Looking through the different compounds got me thinking. As they have4 pots and you can put in 2 sets of pads - has anyone considered putting in different compounds at the same time - i.e. a 2 pads of Kevlar and 2 of Sintered in the same caliper?

I'm not a braking expert but I'm wondering what benefits there may be of doing this...

I think Alex Chamberlain runs a mixture of the 2 types on his Saint brakes. Check him out on YouTube.
