[#10768798]

Got MT5 with 8P pads, just installed new 160 mm storm hc rotors and aligned them decently, still squeals in the dry, front a lot more than back as per usual.

1. Could be pad contamination, sand them down and see?
2. If #1 doesn't work, get Magura 9.C comfort pads - supposedly their most silent ones, or are there others brands to consider?
3. Could it be something else entirely?

How did you end up fixing yours?

Using the 8P pads, touch of squeal in the wet but otherwise good. The proper bedding in procedure seemed to be key to good performance mind.

"Could it be something else entirely?"
Maybe, if the mounting is distorting the caliper.
The MT5 caliper is quite big, fat around the pistons, that the body / centre of the caliper can be touching the brake mount before the feet get in contact with the mounting. The caliper is then being distorted as the screws then force the feet into contact with the mounting, and then become tight. If using a brake mount, use a Magura one.

Follow the Magura bedding in process - it makes a real difference.

We are using the UberBike Race Matrix pads on our MT5's - silent and powerful.

Ok here's what i did

1. Removed pads and checked for stuck pistons, used blue blood to unstuck two that were sticking.
2. Sanded pads w 100 grit sandpaper, then wiped them off w 70% isopropanol.
3. Reinstalled pads, made sure rotor would not contact calipers.
4. Ordered Swissstop organics for the front (since they need replacing soon and the front is most prone to squealing, only 5 eur more than magura pads so why not).

No squeals far, likely just a result of pad contamination/gradual pad gunk buildup/glazing.

Still squals when wet, let's see what organics can do
