Currently "wintering up" Carbine and Tallboy. MM feels good on front of Carbine, any thoughts for rear tyre suitable for the Manx, sloppy, rocky trails, that will still be good in the plantations?....HD?? Or even MM On rear?

Muddy Mary will be a bit draggy, Hans dampf would make a better rear tyre. Another option would be the new nobby nic.

MM would imo be overkill for a rear tyre, I got through last winter with a Rock Razor out back quite happily but it does depend where/what you ride.

I've never got on with HDs but have been impressed with the new NN (hated the old version) and would recommend them if you're wanting to stay with Schwalbe.

You are all wrong ๐Ÿ˜€ Maxxis DHR2 is the answer.

Wouldn't say 'much' better, slightly cheaper and grippier in muddy/loose conditions but didn't find it roll quite as well as the MM.

Either way, still way OTT for a rear tyre.

I find the HD a bit prone to clogging up, so the level of grip doesn't seem to justify the drag. Got a new Nobby Nic and it seems to be working out pretty well.

+1 for DHR 2.
Just taken off my spesh slaughter (rock razor type thingy) and I can't notice any slow down in rolling resistance with the DHR2 but grip is superb on muddy/loamy descents.
Just waiting for the Shorty to arrive for the front end.
