I'll be stopping in Macc next weekend.
Anyone suggest any routes to me or possibly show me around?
I'll have transport so could get over to the peak district if the riding's better there?
There's the Macc Forest trail that we call the three C's: charity lane, cat and fiddle, 3 Shires head and Cumberland brook. It featured in a recent edition of Singletrack. That's 2 to 3 hrs drpending on conditions.
Otherwise, there are lots of good trails around Hayfield and Disley.
Thanks vicky.
I've got the route that was in STW already.
Was looking for some other stuff too.
Do you know of any grouprides or anyone that could show myself and Mrs ssstu round?
If you want to extend the Cumberland Brook, Macclesfield Forest, Charity Lane etc. (Grit n Gears?) ride, 3-shires head, Luds Church are worth looking at. Hollinsclogh and the Goyt Valley are not too far but I would probably stick with the Cumberland Brook / Charity Lane route.
My normal route is your 3Cs as per the magazine, with the following extension.
At 3 shire head, cross the pack bridge and turn right and climb out of the valley (great climb in my opinion short but tough, for me anyway). Loop around Turn edge hill and up to Knotbury. Then return back to 3 shires to continue the route.
Midweek bump.
Anyone else got any ideas?
Stu- Taz knows his way round there pretty well- may be worth nudging him!
Cheers pop.
Come on them tazzy show yourself. ๐ฏ
Can email you RE some less known stuff if you want?
That'd be good sam.
Or we could meet up and you could show it to us. ๐
I can get a look at your new bike that way. ๐
Riding Hit The North I'm afraid, otherwise I'd love to. It's wonderful, fancy swapping your LTc for it? ๐ Will email you now.
Cheers sam.
I'll pass on the swap. ๐
You sure? It's got red hubs and everyfink.
If they were mango i might be interested. ๐
Look at Strava . Its all been stravered round here now , most of the cheeky stuff as well.
There's still a few hidden jems that they've done/found yet.
Sam's showing me round now. ๐
booooo was going to offer my services a la weekend stu on singlespeeds n everyfink
Now you tell me. ๐ ๐
TBF I rode my singlespeed for the first time in a very long time last saturday and my arms almost fell off. ๐ณ
I'd forgoten how much upper body strength the one gear daftness takes.
So it's probarbly best that i build back up to it.
The swede just text, he said he can show you round his rear quarters if you want ? ๐
sorry stu, been working silly hours in some skanky hell hole called london.
Everyone has already seen/ridden swede's rear quarters.
Tazz.
That's terrible.
Hope you recover from it soon.
You're still welcome Taz, you probably know it better than me anyway. I'll be a bit slow on the climbs and will probably have to peel off in the middle of the ride but still...
Yeah tazz.
Not seen you for ages it'd be good to catch up.
Swedes rear quarters in sleeve of wizard shocker
Its snowed up there today ๐
Forecast is pretty snowy for the weekend too. How much snow is there gb1m?
I've not been riding up there myself but a mate said there was a about an inch and was tough going.
He said as they dropped down hackedway the snow became rain. So everything above the Leather Smithy has some snow.
I'll let you know what i can see from down here in the morning
Cheers, I'll be able to see the snowline on the way over in the morning providing the snow's not too bad early on, hoping my bus isn't cancelled.
Looks like we'll be bringing our fatbikes then. 8)
It don't look that bad up there today , but heavy snow forecast for Sunday
You'll be alright on normal bikes Stu, but I want a play on a fatbike, so bring those too ๐
We're bringing the fattys anyway.
It'll be fun whatever the conditions are. ๐
Winner. Might need patching up if my new pedals attack my shins, there's even a warning in the box... Still meeting at half 10?
oooooo where are you folks meeting, might tag along if that's not a problem?
Crag Inn, Wildboarclough at Half 10.
10.30 ish sounds good to me.
I've certainly got no objections to you or anyone else coming Tazz.
As long as you don't show me "that piercing" again.
Bear in mind I'll be slow and pootling, now Taz is coming you can go wherever you like ๐
I'm oot I'm afraid chaps....got "life" shite to deal with ๐ฅ
๐
That's a shame mate. ๐ฅ
sam bimbling speed will be fine.
Winner. Will probably be quite a random ride, will depend largely on the weather. Nates on the fatties?
once I'm sorted with a place to live and some tazzy space, I'll be sitting on your doorsetp waiting for a ride Stu! ๐
That sounds a bit serious mate.
Hope you work thing out ok and you're always welcome round here any time you want.
Thanks for that Sam.
That was good fun on the DH course.
Bit slidey, good giggle all the same.
A question for the ones with local knowledge.
I am looking at extending my normal loop (as posted earlier), anyway.
Is the path from the A54, heild end farm/Tagsclough hill going to Burntcliff Top best rode North to South or vica-versa.
Many thanks.
Looking at going up 3 shires, cut thorn, left at A54, then path to Burntcliff-Gradbach or just road back up to cut thorn?
Is the path from the A54, heild end farm/Tagsclough hill going to Burntcliff Top best rode North to South or vica-versa.
IMHO it works best North-South. There's a pull up from the A54 (on tarmac) and then a run over the top on mixed surface before a nice drop down to the Gradbach road.
Cheers.
