I will be up by the gas station / radio mast around 10:30am.

Either a blue Scott Strike or a Ti Carver 96er SS

nixie - I am going to bring CHAOS to the Sports Centre!

The plan is to get the pro builders in with the diggers one week to get most the mud moved, we do some fettling over the weekend and then they come back to finish and surface where required.

When I get some firmer dates you will hear about it. Probably the back end of November

Cool, sounds good to me. Just had a read on the blog site and sounds like a good development. If the location is where I think it is in the centre I could hit it everyday going to and from work :D. Let me know when your doing it and I should be able to help. You got my email or have you got a mailing list to sign up too?

When I get round to it I will draw up a mailing list.

Don't worry, you will hear about it and be expected to help 😉

Just need to find 800 square metres of 20mm to dust scalpings that someone is happy to donate.

I wonder how much 800 square metres by the necessary track surface depth actually works out in tonnes?

What's the required depth?

I see there's quite a large quantity of scalpings near the BMW garage in Chandlers Ford... that's free to whoever collects it..

Isn't that part of the BMX track maintenance?

If not, I might wander over with my pickup and a shovel

It's arranged in various piles next to the metal ramps/park....

The piles aren't quite in the right place to feel nice on a 26" wheeled bike so I assumed it was just landscaping...

There are quite a lot of folk on BMXs riding it though (some wih huge skill I must add, specially watching the air they get, clearing the first double) so you might have to go late at night to collect it 😉

I will be approaching B&Q. MOT1 aggregate is only £30 per ton bag so I am sure they can be persuaded to donate 10 tons or so.

Better keep this one legit for the moment. Guerilla tactics if that fails perhaps.

Is the riding around there good? Got images of it being reasonably flat but some people rave about it. Anyone got a postcode for where you meet?

On a serious note, you might also want to try Elliotts, they are a Hants based builders merchants if you've not heard of them...

(trivia) B&Qs first ever store was in Swaythling, I think just about where Machine Mart now stands

Taff, LW is surprisingly hilly considering where it is, it's a very compact area that spans 2 or 3 stream gullies of sand on clay, they give the gradients, as well as the grinding paste. It's very muddy from Oct/Nov till Apr/May and just quite muddy the rest of the time.

tt - they are indeed. they also have UK Youth as their charity of the year. UK Youth are the guys who host the Big Bike Bash so I have a couple of contacts who have given me a good steer on how to approach this.

Taff - not sure where you ride but it is not totally flat. think of a condensed Swinley rather than the New Forest with trees. Where are you based? If you come down one weekend i am happy to show you around for a couple of hours. It is not the best riding in the country but it is the best in Southampton and has more variety than QE park.

SO16 5SP is the nearest post code i can remember (my old house). That is a small road on the right of Coxford Rd. Follow Coxford Rd north until it runs out and that is Lordswood. It is between the M27, Southampton and the Golf Course.

I might try and head up on Sunday then. I was right next to the golf course yesterday so should've had a quick look. I'm in Havant so only a little way away. Normally ride QECP, South Harting an Goodwood areas but bored of it now so been riding on the road this year. Just want a new place to ride and some people to ride with!

I never realised Lordswood was so popular.

See you all there and remember : We ride at the speed of the slowest* or at least wait at the end of each section

I'm gonna try to get up and make this. Really enjoyed Thursday. Thanks to all who waited/looked for me when I was bogged down in the mud/dark.

I might be a bit flaky in the morning. I have just been told I am going to a party in some this evening.

We might have to split into the slow group and the comatose group 😉

ben - we always wait. how else do you get the pictures of your mates covered in mud and/or blood 😉

Hi all, was hoping to get to meet some fellow Lordswood riders tomorrow, but have just been told, me and MrsBlackSoul (and her Kona Bolt) are heading to the NF for a poodle as the weather looks good and the scenery's better 🙁

Won't be riding next week as away on business but hopefully cross paths soon...

Ow!

Some body has jack hammered my head and left a dead mouse in my mouth. What happened?

Trying to find the none moving part of the floor to get dressed. This will be a slow exploration ride I think

i've recently moved to north winch and am missing lordswood a bit, which is really weird as i recall the first time i tried it i didnt rate it at all, its good though.

whiskey?!?!?

It all started to go wrong when I was making the elderberry rum. You don't want to mix whiskey with elderberry rum do you?
