My Nicolai Helius pivots need a bit of TLC. I am trying to obtain a replacement for one of them from Nicolai UK who have always come up trumps for me in the past but I was wondering- are the steel pivots a standard item, i.e. used elsewhere in the 'real world' and thus not only available from Nicolai.
What I need is a hollow steel tube, 72mm long, external diameter 15mm, internal bore 13mm. I should imagine that the steel is case hardened/ heat treated or something like that- I've been quoted £19.50 plus p+p so it can't just be any old bit of steel.
Bump.
call a local engineering firm and see what they quote you, I can't imagine it would be much less for a one off item.
For series production I'm not sure the costs of manufacture is relevant to the cost retail - they'll charge what they think the market will bear.
Might be worth checking your local BSL Brammer.
