I did the Whinlatter enduro back in March and am looking for something similar to do in Jan or Feb (or possibly in December at a push). 30 - 40 miles with some good downhills and a reasonably large number of competitors are my main requirements.

Any suggestions? Can't seem to find an easy site which lists all these kind of events.

Puffer, it sounds like it'll be depressing, shit and hard (which is why I kept putting it off) but actually it's a load of fun! Probably my favourite event so far this year.

Mawddach Goldrush at Coedy in early March - three laps of the Tarw trail to give you 30 miles. Plenty of riders plus some really quick ones :o)

You doing the puffer again this year rolf? I am so tempted to solo it - why I don't know. Hardly a suitable thing for a bimbler who is approaching middle age to do.

having supported folk for the last couple of years I can agree that it is surprisingly good atmosphere
