Looking for advice for a decent xc wheel set that will be good / light enough for racing but also strong enough for trail center and rides round the peaks etc , was looking at stans crest but I weigh 14 stone so am over the weight limit for them
The amercian Classic tubeless ( not race ) look a good price for the weight etc
Any other recommendations

14st be no problem on a well built set of crests - although how you ride is more important IMHO. If you're talking about a normal, wheels predominately on the ground XC style then wouldn't worry about crests at all.

Cheers Garry according to stans site the max weight is 13.5 stone , I do ride hard downhill and over roots/rocks etc so that's why I had ruled the crests out

Light Bicycle on your choice of hubs, I've been really impressed with my American Classics, or DT240s?

American Classic on LB rims would be the upper end of that, but in budget. Mine are 1370g (29er) with Revolution spokes.
