In a few months I am off to somewhere hot, dusty and sunny for six months. What is the best way to store my bikes if I want to find them in working order when I get back? I have a Stumpjumper FSR and a hard-tail Merlin, neither have oil-filled forks. Mrs HTP has no mechanical sympathy and won't look after them.

Lube them up with something like GT85/WD40, bag them up and stick them somewhere warm and dry. Your loft would be a better deal than a damp old shed, probably safer too. I would probably lessen tyre pressures too. Why don't you take at least one with you?

It is not the sort of place you want to be riding a bike, trust me 😀
