Can anyone recommend a front light suitable for lighting my route to work?
I spend about 8 miles on country roads without street-lighting, most of the other half of the way is sustrans cycle track with a couple of miles of singletrack through woodland.
I don't need anything too flash (no pun) as I only average about 16mph.
I am interested in the Topeak Whitelight 1W AA as it suits my budget and should easily last the trip on a set of rechargeable batteries.
Does anyone use anything similar ?

I had a 1W cateye for a pure road commute, and really I'd want a little more than that, especially for singletrack. Had a 5W Hope for a couple of years, it does the job fine. As someone is about to say, on a tight budget you'd want to look at some of the DX or Fenix torches, or the Tesco £10 jobbie.

I can expand on that, if you'd like 😉 Surely there must be a what lights and tyres double whammy thread coming soon?

Can't find 'dxextreme' on google - can you be any more specific please ?

Also, are these lights going to be within my budget (under 50 quid - i'm not that desperate to bike to work in the dark and cold !)

But be aware that they're currently taking 3-4 weeks to arrive (from Hong Kong) and that they are extremely bright.

There's also this, the same light but with a headstrap

Do a search of these forums for deal extreme, dealextreme or dx. There will be more than you can handle...

It's suprising that there are still folk that haven't heard of them, but then until a month ago I hadn't either.

Doh!

This is exactly what I'm looking for !

Thanks for the tip

Are they likely to blind drivers when I'm on the road ?

Mine haven't arrived yet but I gather that they can do just that - you may need to adjust them downwards 🙂

I ride off road with a simple LED head torach £15 but can't remember where from. Rode tonight with a bloke with the DXreme ligths for £30 and they looked fine too.
