[Closed] Light weight 3/4 bib shorts for summer use ?

Over the winter I've discovered that the secret (for me) to comfortably wearing knee pads all day is to have something under them. My full length winter bibs worked great all winter. Now that summer is (maybe) coming I'd like to try some 3/4 bibs. I've tried the one pair that I have and they worked really well with the knee pads. However, they are still quire a heavy weight (sort of fleecy lined and designed for autumn/spring use on the road bike).

So, does anybody make a 3/4 bib that is lightweight and preferably with a decent pad?

lusso make some that are pretty thin - be careful, they also make some thicker roubaix ones

yep. really, really comfortable.

Not warm though, froze my ass off in them on a cold, wet ride the other day.

Endura FS260 3/4 Without a shadow of doubt.
I've got 6 pairs of the normal ones - Thank God for an Endura Trade account

The answer, as ever when asking about good value cycling shorts, is Decathlon.
These are light weight, have a very good pad and are under £50. Perfect.

I do, 3/4 bibs under my rad blue nduro shorts and knee pads occasionally.

stops the pad rubbing the top of my knee raw which every kneepad I've ever tried has done.

Throughout Summer onwards I've worn thermal 3/4 length Endura leggings. Never noticed them! 😀

Thanks folks. Lots of good options there. I've got a soft spot for Howies and have generally been pretty happy with my Endura kit, so I'll probably give those two a try first.

3/4 bibs and knee pads?

Indeed: it's been a revelation for me. YMMV of course.

Altura 3/4's for me - in the past, they've offered them with the plain vanilla Airstream pad or the fancier Progel pad, but the website only seems to list the Progel version currently

Who knew that other people would care what you chose to wear for your leisure activity? It's a funny old world indeed.

I have knobbly knees. When I fall I always tuck and roll. This time however I must have clipped a rock with my leg 'chipping' my patella on the inside of the knee.

So I went out and bought Kyle Straits. I just couldn't get on with them though....it feels like you've got two towels wrapped around your knees doesn't it?

Oh.. don't worry, I really don't care what you wear. I've never worn knee pads for XC so genuinely had no idea you guys needed protection from your protection.

Hey - a few months after my knee I forgot my helmet and rode down the same descent without one. At the bottom a group of blokes had a go saying 'haven't you ever been in hospital'?

Some people over-think and over-protect. Overprotection can have its draw backs.
