Hi
Apparently he's been hit by a trul whilst out riding, broken femur and damaged knee ligaments.
Rubbish.
GB
Christ, that's not good. Whereabouts?
Thats awful
That'll be retirement then I reckon. What a massive shame. Poor bloke.
Jeeze
Is no one safe , i used to think when i read these things that it was just inexpereianced newbs getting hit but having been on the recieving end and seen quite a few big miles mates get hit its just getting beyond the joke. Doesnt mean im going to give it up .... Tempting to run with the headcam all the time tbh.
gee - anymore info/source?
I cant find anything.
Can't see anything on Google, more info please ...
Justin loretz - mbuk journo on twitter retweeted it from a geezer called simon burnley
Simon burney tweeted it. I remember he was a cycling coach from a few years ago probably still is. Was Caroline Alexander's coach I think. So I think it'll be true unfortunately .
Simon Burney was tweeting it. He's a UCI Chief Commisaire, was the GB Team Manager for a long time and is a all round good bloke for GB riders and races.
I spoke to Liam yesterday and it was a couple of weeks ago, a truck backed out into him, broke femur and damaged knee, seeing knee specialist next week, hoping to be back on bike by end of October.
what is it with pros hitting cars/ trucks?
what is it with pros hitting cars/ trucks?
They spend more time cycling than STW forum dwellers? And go out in all conditions rather than sitting at home surfing the tinterwebs?
Feel sorry for Liam, he's been quite unfortunate with crashing and injuries yet has so so much to offer! A true athlete and great bike rider and all round top bloke. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Seriously though. There have been a few. Kileen. Wiggo. Rachel Atherton...
Not pros, but that rower fella, one of the GB management team.
Any more?
**** healing vibes fella
Oh **** - I thought I'd seen him out on his bike last week, but clearly somebody else. He was only just getting going again after a second op on his ankle. Just hope this doesn't drag on like that did.
Bloody hell. Gutted for him.
The reports of his injuries appear to have been exaggerated - unless that is you're happily walking around and going on bike rides 3 weeks after a broken leg. Apparently he did do some damage to his knee, but is getting over it, and is back riding again.
Edit: have re-read above where people appear to have got the broken leg first hand - well he's obviously recovered from that quickly.
From blazin saddles post, it was a couple of weeks before this thread started, so about on the money for a broken bone.
