I'm after a new battery for a lupine tesla and i've found a site that makes compatible batteries...

http://www.open-light.co.uk/open-light-8.7ah-lupine-compatible-battery.php?it=276&ca=74&p=1&so=0#

now they also make batteries for other lights, eg Magicshine

http://www.open-light.co.uk/open-light-8.7ah-magicshine-bikeray-compatible-battery.php?it=273&s=1

The lupine compatible one is £114, but the magicshine compatible one is only £79, however they both have same voltage, capacity and dimensions. Both say they use panasonic cells.

Apart from the connector lead, would there be any difference in the batteries? Or is it just a case of them pricing the lupine one higher as lupine stuff is more expensive than magicshine stuff???

I was thinking i could get the cheaper magicshine one and solder my existing lupine lead onto it.

cheers

EDIT - i did find some blurb on the site about them customising the PCB to the electronics of each light manufacturer: (bottom of the page)

http://www.open-light.co.uk/why_our_batteries_are_best.php

Although not sure if this is a load of marketing bollocks.

do you know about mtbbatteries? smudge on the forum runs it and his prices are very good.

By the looks of it the Lupine battery is 6 cells creating 8.7Ah and 7.2V

Although not advertised on his site if you drop him an email through sales@mtbbatteries.co.uk you may find he is able to make the same battery you require for less than open-light.

Hi Ed,

I can do Lupine compatible replacements no problem with compatible connector fitted as standard.
Batteries will either be in 5.2Ah, or 7.8Ah with protection circuit built in as standard.

Please email me if you need to know anymore details.

happy to help
Smudge
