No skin in this game but just watched this for a more in depth look at these brakes.
They look pretty well made.
To be fair, Trickstuff have done a great job of creating the emperor's new clothes buzz... the same kind of thing you see in the exclusive watch market, or the limited edition trainers market, where demand oustrips supply and before you know it, second hand prices exceed new prices as people clamour to be part of the it crowd.
Seems to me like though the design cues Lewis have used are questionable, since there is no actionable infringement, as long as their quality is sound they'll be here to stay and perhaps even provide some healthy competition...

As a result of this thread, I splashed out on some Tech4 V4s. Lovely, and 3 pairs of pads.
I'm sure the Lewis are satis and work, but the V4s, man... Like throwing an anchor out

That's their motorbike brake, or I think maybe e-motorbike? They mention Surron, I think all the current surrons use mountain bike brakes so it'd be compatible if so... They said "you can fit it to a mountain bike but don't" 🙂

Coming back to these with fresh eyes... They actually look... Nah they're still a blatant rip off with a stupid name.
Ive got a pair of the lht ultimates there absolutely insane .
Really impressed.
The rip of thing is getting a bit boring now.
I dont see aldi and lidl gettingbthe same stick for selling almost identical products with often just a letter changed in the name or indeed often poking fun at the main brands with the name .
Worth noting the pad pin on the ti version is much thicker than the lh4 so fitting hope v4 pads requires a dremmel to open the hole.
Gorilla pads are the same but there aware of this and the next batch will have a bigger hole
Could you explain what IP has been stolen? They certainly look like trickstuff but I don't believe there's anyway to patent lice ce the appearance of a product but dohave there own patents and are distrubted in western countries unlike true knockoffs which are sold direct from China. If there was any IP theft trickstuff which were bought by dt Swiss for something like 200m would be more than able to defend themselves. I'm also pretty sure the distributors would be on the hook for that.

Joe Breeden has set up his own team now, with Intense as the title sponsor and frame provider - and doing deals with other component brands for the rest of the bike.
Lewis brakes is unexpected, but they must be paying a certain amount - and it'll be less than they would for the more established teams.
Whether the team bought them, were given them, or were paid to use them is irrelevant. That fact is they have them fitted, and if they were utter pants, that would be a danger to their rider.
So they must be good enough that they work in that environment.
This thread is four months old*, is there any more long term feedback from actual users of these brakes?

Bite point stays where i set it
Silent powerful and 6 months in reliable
The provided pads have held up well and are about half worn
Calderdale hasn't been pleasant recently and they've survived so far
I got them on offer when they first come out for well under 400
Would i paye the £480 from submission cycles when they have stock I'm not sure

I don't think many manufacturer's have much budget just now, just lots of unsold stock.
However Intense are now distributing directly within the UK, and have had a big push to get bikes into local shops over the past year, whereas the previous distributor wasn't really doing much to push the brand in the UK.
I did consider a Tracer, but they're still fairly conservative geometry wise, and I prefer more slackness with long travel, so bought something else instead. And they only come with a 5 year frame warranty.

The size of truck sitting in the paddock at Nevis range just now suggests a couple of hundred quid spent on brakes would not break the bank.
Louise Ferguson is certainly thrilled with them and singing their praises, saying she's gone back down to 200mm rotors they're that powerful.
If they are that close to trickstuff I wonder if they are/ could rebrand trickstuff as Lewis to help build a brand.
Ironic if it that was happing on intense frames who's M1 were rebranded as a bunch of manufacturers back in the day.

Intense made the decision to run them not Louise, I doubt they're bunging her any extra to say how good they are, unless she starts appearing in Lewis ads I'll take her word for it as it seems to match what everyone has said so far.

Its her job to advertise the brakes (along with all other items from sponsors). She won’t be getting bunged extra but it also wouldn’t have been acceptable if the opposite happened and she said “they’re crap and I’m stuck with them”.
Not that I want to take over old wounds but...
5Dev now seems to be on the 'how similar can we produce a product' list of Lewis Brakes. Just my opinion, but normalising Chinese imitation parts damaged not only the original brand, but also anyone that's directly sponsored by them.
I have been drilling out the holes with a 4mm drill on the Gorilla brakes Enduro pro pads on the LHT as advised by them no issues untill i got to italy this year and lost al pressure in the rear brake and had to buy new brakes while i was away which was an absolute nightmare decending mount Baldo, need to get them sorted as i didj love teh feel of them compared to the shimano XT brakes on there now,
