Anyone else here? I’ll be on the hill with beer, probably around Vali’s Hole with a bunch of rowdy Austrians with chainsaws.

Forecast is looking great until Monday.

Been before and it's great, have fun.

I'm heading to Schladming  tomorrow and might ride Leogang next Friday.

Anyone else aware the EDR race is today? Nothing says "we're trying to kill the sport" like sticking it on a Friday with no hype. The ebike race is on the Saturday. Utterly bizarre decision making going on.

We’re just off to do a run then watch some EDR sections.
Conditions are still good, just had a rain shower but grip is fine and things are still running fast.

@leegee

We’re here until Tuesday, might bump into you.

Ok.

It’s pissing down now, should make the Hangman 1 stage of the EDR spicy

@BoardinBob I know what you mean, but if a race has to clash with the DH qualies and semis, I'd rather it was the ebikes.

They’ve changed the track a bit at the top to go over a berm, big compression into a dip after. It could be a place to lose time if it rains.

I was right about Hangman 1, so nasty that root section when it’s wet

It was dry and dusty when we rode it last June.

Fair play to Lukasik getting straight back up after that scorpion and still finishing 3rd. He's going to be feeling that one for a few days.

They've upped their game on the coverage though. Err..

Does show Charlie Murray having a bit of a mare on the final stage though.. front flat.

It's alright with the sound off 🤣

All credit due to event speakers doing their thing all day long, it's an unenviable task. But it simply doesn't work hooking them up to a live feed.

WTAF?!! Is the whole broadcast like that, constantly hopping between English in foreign accents and actual foreign languages? Please, pick a language and stick to it!

Brilliant news. Ric McLaughlin is ill so Josh is doing the commentary instead!

Quite a lot of crashing going on in the juniors. I’m not a massive fan of Leogang but the stump section and particularly the woods look really tricky to ride well. Seems pretty greasy through the trees too, has claimed a lot of riders so far.

Is it just me or is there a second or two delay between what's on screen and the commentary?

Almost as though the commentators are seeing things a second or two on their screen.

No delay on commentary, but feed constantly freezing. Very annoying.

Just me, or same for others?

I saw a clip this morning of a rider going off track by coming off the top of the wall ride and narrowly avoiding the spectators. Has anyone else seen it? I can’t remember who it was so can’t find it again!

Great result for Anna Newkirk riding the Contra DH bike - 2nd place, her first WC podium. 🙂

Can anyone else find the elite women’s final on Discovery / Eurosport? I subscribed so I could watch the replays but can only find the men’s.

Im already grumpy that Eurosport put out an article that appeared in top search result while I was looking for the women’s full replay naming the men’s winner in the title (before I had watched). Only thing I have found online is a 14 minute highlights from UCI. Useless coverage is useless.

We watched the mens final live on Discovery + and then the women's final on catchup straight after it

That last run was class. What a course and who doesn't love a good drone camera chasing the rider down the trail.

His swearing wasn't even beeped or apologied which made his reaction all the more real.

Commentary isn't the best as it kind of misses a bit of feeling, even compared to other Eurosport cycling commentary.

I'd like to give the course a go, maybe miss out the big gap jumps though.

Good racing today, good that the drying track didn’t have too much of an influence.

Anyone know why Jordan Williams was in tears at the end of the race - they looked like proper ‘sad’ tears but I don’t know why that might be.

Benefited massively that Rik wasn't in the mic.

...and Rachel was hard work too. Best rider / commentator is Tahnee imho

“…and Rachel was hard work too”

She has quite an amazing ability to ramble about vaguely related things in long neverending sentences, whilst forgetting there is someone on screen doing a race run that we’re focused on and that would benefit from some actual commentary!

A good race with track conditions really having an influence, in terms of taking some riders out and others playing it a bit too cautious.

I had a feeling Loic was going to win, after seeing how relaxed he seemed in one of the preview videos a few days ago.

Benefited massively that Rik wasn’t in the mic.

Josh wasn't perfect, but he way more energy and brought some much-needed excitement to the booth.

A very positive step. But sadly probably just temporary.

Feels like they are getting a bit closer to the mark with the footage and commentary but still missing it.

Finally found the replay... turns out discovery+ through amazon simply doesn't have it available. Cancelled it and resubbed direct with discovery and it's fine.

@colp How is Leogang riding? Schladming had a monsoon yesterday and the rest of the week looks the same.

Thought Josh Carlson was pretty good tbh, needs a bit more work on calling it when the split times come up and not talking over each other. I actually like Ric he seems like a sound guy and following Rob was always going to be a tough gig, but would rather see Josh do the commentary and Ric move to presenting and/or mid race interviews as he's pretty good at those as we've seen on his work with the EWS.

Just caught up with the Eurosport coverage last night. (Think I recorded it on Sunday.) That course looked mental, so steep in some sections and those muddy step downs through the woods, where Tahnee crashed..! Watche Bernard Kerr's YT "Highs and Lows" video and the helmet cam showed how hard it was... (Any of you lot actually riding that stuff, yeah right!? 😉 )

Finn v Loic was great fun. Shame Eurosport missed BK and Danny Hart's runs. Commentary was ok. I've certainly heard worse.

@leegee

We sacked it off today. Did one run on Hackelberg in Saalbach yesterday in freezing cloud with rain, se we just couldn’t see to ride properly. The actual trail conditions were good though.

WRT Leogang, the boys CBA riding today as it was 4c at the top of Asitz, Flying Gangster and the DH track are still closed and and the Steinbergbahn lift isn’t running so you’re limited to descending to the Steinberg base then pedalling back up to the Asitz lift.

I reckon conditions on Hot Shots, Hangman 1&2 will be fine. Altschmeide (new enduro trail from the top) will be greasy but it’s a great trail.

You can still ride the lower enduro trails from Forsthof hotel.

We go home tomorrow so I’m van loading all afternoon.

Back here around 22nd July to September if anyone is around for a hook up? I’ll ride anything, DH, enduro, jump lines, it’s all good.

Thanks colp. Rode Schladming today and it wasn't that cold but very wet and foggy at the top.

I met some guys who had been at Leogang and they said it was riding well yesterday.
