Currently in Eskdale, nr Was****er. Have been bimbling about locally but now have tomorrow free, with transport if needed.

Will be on a 26er  ht, not looking for v technical as prefer fast and flowy though not adversed to a bit of a challenge or hike a bike. Fitness  dictates  10 - 15 miles ish  and somewhere in the region of 2k ft ascent. There's  so many route recommendations out there, it's  difficult  to know where to start with limited time.

I've ridden many trail centres, including the North Face trail at Grizedale and whilst enjoyable I'd not race back, the Whinlatter offerings aren't inspiring me at present and its also a bit of a drive to get there. So, given the above, what would you recommend? If I'm driving,  I'd  rather keep this to a minimum.

Cheers.

Don't waste time driving anywhere FFS.

Link these two. On the Burnmoor Tarn round, as you go around the tarn and head back to Eskdale, keep high/right, passing Burnmoor Lodge, to reach the cairns on Low Longrigg, before heading down left into Boot.

Thanks, already ridden the Esk trail but would happily check out the Burnmoor Tarn loop. From your description,  when heading back to Boot are you aiming to descend on the more Western of the two bridleway's coming down?

What’s that ridgeline like, out of interest?

I've not ridden it but It's broad and grassy with lots of knolls to wind in and out of and with fantastic views down to the lake and across to the fells at the top of Wasdale.

@martin,

Good. As Whitestone really, the descent down from Whin Rigg is good fun as is the BW down into Miterdale, although there was a few fallen trees when I did it. the descent to the Station from Blea tarn is also a great finish to the day.
