Hi i am working in Como area in Italy mid May was planning on taking time out for some riding, any recomendations? does not need to be trail center either?

Can't help with the riding but recommend you go to Val di Massino/Mello and check out the poss the most stunning bit of mountain scenary in the whole Alps (go East from head of lake toward Bormio and turn off left 5km after Morbegno.
St Moritz area (2 hrs North of Como) has loads of trials though.
I went on holiday there and thought about biking but the terrain around the lake just looked too steep to hold a trail!

Anyway, here is a website that shows maps for 5 rides around the Lago di Como area, if you don't speak German you can translate with google but, a map is a map in any language.

If it was me, I would use a couple of the routes in conjunction with a local map. When a german website lists a "mtb tour", it can be pretty tame with respect to singletrails. In Italy you will not get into trouble riding on footpaths.
