Just put together a mtb for the wife and I'm very conscious about getting her the perfect saddle. She's not very keen on getting her backside measured, so I'll be doing the at home method.
Are there any makes and models I should be thinking of?
So far I have:
Specialized myth comp
Selle italia diva (although it's got stupid pink bits on it)
Fizik vesta or vitesse

Specialized because they'll swap saddles up to 30 days. I think my Mrs had three before she found one she liked from them.
Mrs Yak has been on fizik vitesses and vitesse hp's for years. V happy with them.
MrsbeanZ tried loads and found the Specialized BG suited her , she's got 4 now and never has any comfort problems .
We're all different! You also need to consider a padded liner that will work with the saddle. For example, a too heavily padded saddle combined with a heavily padded liner will be most uncomfortable.
I personally prefer one with some flex so Selle Italia for me. Some lbs's have a 'hire' service, would you consider that?
