I’ve been donated an old dropper post for a mate’s son’s new mtb to try and fix up. I’ve done Oneup droppers but this one is very different with the actuator under the saddle - so it runs a cable loop up to there behind the post.
At the
moment it seems like the actuator is permanently actuated - so the post is up, but if you put weight on it, it goes down but then immediately goes back up again.
I think it’s circa 10 yrs old and the manual on the KS site no longer works.
Does anyone have a copy of a service manual for it or a site you’ve found with it on? I’m happy to dismantle / clean things if I know how it’s meant to be done…..
.
The cartridge isn't supposed to be serviceable but Tths link might help
It's a fiddly job. Take care not to damage the o rings & seals. Repressurising the cartridge is easier if you have a helper to hold the needle adapter.
I’ve got one of those droppers. You can rebuild them. On about a par with a Reverb without a hydraulic actuator.
Usually just getting air into it seems to sort it out.
So, undo the collar, undo the nut (13mm?) at the bottom. Slide the post apart. Add what air you can get into it. Put it back together.
Which isn’t too hard if you can get an adapter to seal to the stupid port that looks like all the other holes, for no reason that I can see.
Thanks both - I’ll get it dismantled then and see what’s what. I’m hoping the cartridge is fine but something with the actuator is just gunked up.
If I fail I’ll keep a look out for a different externally actuated dropper like the brand x ascend etc.
