Where is best place to buy these from and pound for pound are they still best around? Swissstop are just way too expensive and my shimano one's have the same feel as a block of wood.

Remember swisstop are sold as 2 x pairs per pack. I bought my swisstop greens via absolute cycles on eBay and paid £17 which made them no more expensive than koolstops.can't find the same deal now but think Wiggle wasn't too bad at last time of looking. I've used koolstop salmon too, which were better than than standard.

Thanks jolly, will take a peek at absolute and see what they have.

I have shimano r561 brakes which i think are a poormans 105's. They have brakes shoes so does this mean i just need inserts?

Yea should just need pads (inserts) if you have separate holders (shoes). Normally there is a small screw which holds the pad in place.
