Just finished a week long trip to the West side of Scotland on a Bothy bagging mission and ended up on Knoydart for 3 days! Now I did not do my homework on the place so ended up doing a few out and back rides but the ones I did were superb. Day one 3pm beer in pub then explore up a glen then headed to the coast for a wild camp over looking Skye,lots of drift wood so a fire was a must!

Day 2 coastal ride then hit the main metal road back to Inverie then onwards to Barrisdale for another wild camp next to the Bothy, climb was doable and great descent.

Day 3 was the biggy back out of Barrisdale back to Inverie for lunch and resupply for the climb over to Soulies Bothy I had heard that the descent was like Nan Bield but 10 times longer and they were not wrong.

The route out was brutal and lots of hike a bike but the descent made up for it even though I was running rigid.
Not been to Knoydart then go bike walk or packraft it was ace
Looks blinking brilliant.
The beaches on the coast were superb 🙂

Knoydart..fantastic place to ride ..we were there in 2014 ..and have been planning on going back ever since ..
We parked at the hotel in Morar ( with permission ) and chartered a small boat for the last day to drop us off over the water at Tarbet so we could go over the top to cycle along Loch Morar ..well worth doing the next time you go postierich ..

Not all the previous sentence may be true!
One of those areas of Scotland I've wanted to go to for a long time, like forty years' worth of long time. Not a lot of reliable crags there so didn't go when climbing, not many races so didn't go when fell running. Looks like you struck lucky with the weather, not many places better than west and north Scotland when it's like that.

Closest I've been is Kinloch Hourn (fantastic mussels from the shoreline) but I've looked over from Mallaig & thought, 'hmmmm, must go'.
Wouldn't be the same if it was dreich though, you picked the weather well Rich!

Brill photos and brill place. Last time I was there it was a late May Bank Holiday and we had to walk to the pub along the verge as the tarmac on the road was melting 😉
Hopefully there for a packraft trip in June, those pics make me even more excited!
When I go again I,m going to ride in I reckon the ferry was ok but felt to touristy for me had hoped to get the ferry over to Tarbet to do the Loch Morar singletrarck but was not running until Friday

Heading up to Glen Coe end of May for a bit of walking and thinking of moving about for a few days. For those in the know, how does Knoydart compare with other parts of the coastline in that area? Any recommendations?

The issue with / attraction of Knoydart is the difficulty of getting there. Other than its 3 Munros, it's pretty similar to, for instance, Ardnamurchan. The Ardgour and Sunart areas are pretty much off the tourist track at the moment so worth a visit.
Great pics - have been in Knoydart a couple of times by foot, but this is tickling my fancy to take the bike in there this year. This sort of stuff reminds me why I keep coming back to Singletrack - Thanks for sharing!
I walked in April 1980 from Glenfinnan to Ratagan taking about 10 days to zig-zag from loch head to loch head where we had stashed two-man two-day ration packs. It worked out pretty well and was a memorable trip. I remember some good nights in bothies like Sourlies and Suadarlan.
