Hey,
Has anyone experienced knee pain from knee pads?
Obviously I can try a ride without and see how that feels.
If that doesn't help it looks like I will need another bike fit.

Could be causing misalignment of your kneecaps and pain as a result of them not tracking correctly.
Yeah, if they're not fitting well it can cause problems. Usually all I've had is chafing but I definitely felt pressure on my kneecap/joint from one pair that were just totally wrong for me
They will have pressed on a tendon and given you tendonitis or on your kneecap and given you chondromalcia patellae. Stop using them.
Finally someone having same issues as me. Er, oops, sorry.
I have found that my knees do not tolerate any pressure towards knee caps or they will start hurting soon and get inflamed.
I currently have Dainese Trail Skins (first version) which look like they wouldn’t fit that great but haven’t ever given trouble for 5 years. Unfortunately the elastic straps are now getting loose and I’ll have to start looking for new different models as these are discontinued.
I have POC VPD air and although they don't bother my knee caps I sometimes feel like they trigger cramp in my inner leg sometimes. Myabe theres a pressure point there.
Hiya,
Me too moment. I was using bliss knee pads and had worked out the problem. So I switched to nuke proof ones on sale on chain reaction cycles. They don't push directly on the knee and hence the problem is going away,.phew.
Best regards

I’ve had this on my right knee, which is a bit faulty because of a bad ankle break. I can’t have anything tight across my kneecap. For pads the solution has been Fox Launch Pros which are big enough (ie the plastic central outer protection curves outwards far enough) that nothing is pressing against the patella. I wear them for everything, even if there’s lots of pedalling, they’re a good fit on me and thus comfy despite being used for DH by some.
I've not had this issue with knee pads but suferred with serious knee pain from 3/4 and full length winter tights.
Basically the slight compression around my knee was causing sligh misalignment of my right knee cap. It was OK for 1-2 hour rides but would flare up and cause issues on longer rides. I guess the same thing could happen with for me with a knee pad that was a a tighter fit around the knee.
I've used the Dianese trail skin knee pads for a few years with no issues. They don't seem tp put much pressure around the knee but stay in place.

I don’t wear lycra on the bike but I’ve had it with skinny jeans too!
