I'm looking for good kneeguards (only knee protection not shin).

Troy Lee KG 5400 get good reviews, I decided to get them but they seem to be sold out everywhere.

Any recommendations?

Like my POCs they come up cheap fairly regularly if you shop around.

I recently tried on a few

- Fox Launch
- Nukeproof
- TLD KG 5400
- 661 Kyle

and the Fox ones were almost spot on but a bit tight at the back of the knee, which was a shame. The Nukeproofs were bigger but comfortable and with no obvious problems. The 661s were fine in isoaltion but next to the Fox and Nukeproofs they felt basic and, well, a bit out of date. The TLDs were okay but they weren't any more comfortable, whiclst giving up quite a bit in protection.

In the end the Nukeproofs won the day.

I have the Troy Lees and The Fox Launch.

I'd recommend both but the TLs are very skimpy compared to the Fox, and I bought them specifically for XC rides - relegating my Fox pads for DH and proper mountain riding.

Those Nukeproof have v good reviews, look promising.

I'll throw another into the mix - IXS slope series pads. Really comfy, lots of protection, light weight, stay put and don't slip. Also relatively cheap at £50.

I use these, should declare an interest in that we also sell them, but they are very good, I also use them sailing. These guys come up on google as a source fro them

Kali stuff generally is excellent quality and very well priced.

I was leafing through MBR and their subscription offer is a pair of decent looking knee pads. It maybe worth considering

G form. Reactive like POC, machine washable unlike POC and about half the price. Having bought POC elbows, I subsequently bought G Form knees...

I've had 6661 Kyle Straits but my current Nukeproofs are way better.

Some really useful info in these posts, thanks a lot people

Small print for that MBR subscription thing, says they only have 180 pairs, after that its tough titty, but you are tied into the subscription.
