anyone know of any decent accommodation near kirroughtree to stay in for the weekend- thinking log cabins or something similar
It's not quite log cabins but we stay at Conifers just down the road at Newton Stewart- they're wooden cabins, like a slightly more house-like static caravan really, feel a wee bit Ikea-ish but decent and inexpensive, on a pretty nice site.
found that on the internet mate it looked perfect - but it says they have gone into administration but are still taking bookings so not really keen to book till i know a little more !
Stables Guesthouse is a good B+B if you decide to go down that route - http://www.stablesguesthouse.com/
Food at the Cree Bridge House Hotel is absolutely brilliant.
Aye... We stayed there last weekend, it seemed to be business as usual (and was pretty busy) but yep, did give us a little concern. All worked out nicely though.
If you do decide to go there, try and get one of the lodges with the bigger twin bedroom, the one we were in this time had a different layout and the twin was stupidly small, about a foot between the beds and very little storage. Previously we've been up the top and they've been a wee bit bigger- still not massive but not pokey.
