OK - here is the plan.
Date: Sunday 10th April
Time: 10am start (get there for 9:30 to allow for fannying around)
Meeting point: Loch Leven Community Campus
Plan is to ride from Kinross to pick up the black route at the climb towards Path of Condie then onto Dunning before returning via Glen Devon, Knock Hill and Cleish. This is the western section on the map below and has most of the hills on the route. This takes us back to Kinross and there is then the option to ride the Eastern part of the route (much flatter) depending on energy levels and weather.
Post below if you're definitely coming. I'm not bothered if people hedge their bets until the Saturday, as long as I know on the day who will be there. Similarly, no probs if you opt in then wake up on the Sunday and don't feel like it - just let me know (email for my mobile no if you don't have it already).
Cheers,
SC
I'm coming and I'm sure Greig is in too.
Ah - the Sunday works even better for me!
Cool.
Greig is a definite too. He can ride at the head of the group.
I'll ride at the head of the other group. ๐ณ
Spooky, i have just been looking at the route profile for the sportive!
I'm in....druidh can i have a lift please?
i'm in although by looks of it ^^^^^ , thats me in 3 times now ( looks like that cheeky facebook chat worked Stuart ๐ ).
Can i bring the MTB though ๐
Doug... Tues 6:30 for some more pain. whoa hahahahahahahaha ( this aint a gay thing BTW )

Yeah, yeah.
You on MTB and us on road bikes might just work...

No nothing sinister, he is just waxing my legs for the 'pro look'.
he is just waxing my legs for the 'pro look'.
remember, its veet sensitive at first, 2 coats, then yuo can just gilette it every 3 days.
I knew you'd succumb to the 'pro look'.
:*
Mind if I pop along for this?
Wasn't expecting to be around for the Sportive so never even considered entering, but work I had pencilled in has been cancelled so am probably going to be around next weekend.
It'll beat the flat and lonely miles in East Lothian, that's for sure.
I'm new to the road cycling game though, so maybe not awesomely fast. Will there be different groups going? I'm averaging about 16mph at the moment. Is this fast enough to keep up with you huge-thighed cycling gods?
16mph is about what we averaged round Perthshire today, so I imagine you'll find a group happy at that pace.
*coughs goddess too coughs* ๐
Err - huge-thighed???
Ahem. Apologies dirtygirl. I was using "gods" in the same way "man" is used in Mankind.
And are you actually comfortable holding your hand up to be included in the huge-thighed bunch?
*looks at thighs* No, i'd prefer not to be included in the hugh-thighed bunch...that's why i was [s]wheel sucking[/s] admiring the view today.
that's why i was wheel sucking [s]admiring the view today[/s]
dirty girl!
If this ride turns into nothing but seedy randy talk then.............
i'll deffo be there........ and willing
Waiting for someone to reveal this is an April fools.
Recce of a sportive course? This might be even worse that the current trend for sportive race bikes!
Cracking route, love the Path of Condie and Dunning Glen climbs.
It's all just a ruse for me to gain new facebook buddies Doug...
It was established early on yesterday's Etape "recce" that no-one on the ride was actually doing the event.
If I were to make this, can I scrounge a lift from Edinburgh? alternatively, any convenient train stations Stuartie?
๐It was established early on yesterday's Etape "recce" that no-one on the ride was actually doing the event.
Were you sleeping when I offered you a lift yesterday?
Um... remember when I said the back of your van wasn't noisy? I was being diplomatic ๐
That said, I would gladly accept another lift, might even buy your lunch this time instead of your passenger's.
I'm in too!
13fm I'm happy for you to but my lunch again if you like ๐

think an average of 22- 24 will be more on the cards ( if i had my way):(

Free entry, and less dangerous too! ๐
Iain - Can get the train to Dunfermline, assuming you are still in Ed.
Happy to do a pick up at Dunf. Town railway station.
Might tag along too Stuart.
Cracking route, love the Path of Condie and Dunning Glen climbs.
So do I Dougie, although you'll do them in a different gear to me! ๐
Seem to have lost the link to the meeting point in the OP, so here it is:
Wow, just looked at the profile for the first half of this, those look like some tasty climbs and descents! ๐
Just discovered there are a group of roadies from my club (Dunfermline CC) doing the same thing on Sunday though they are starting earlier and riding the route in the conventional start-to-finish manner.
Expect to be overtaken by a well-drilled chain-gang wearing tops like this:

Yeah, i dont think so. Race or die people, race or die
plus: If there starting EARLIER, and chainganging, how will they be OVERTAKING us exactly???.
They're doing the first part of the route first.
We're doing the second part first. They WILL hunt us down. I can draw some diagrams, if necessary.
You can run, but you can't hide from the yellow & blue jerseys Greig...
I have my climbing legs on order for sunday but they have been missing in action since xmas so i'm not holding out much hope that they will turn up ๐ฅ
Any good places to have post ride scran?
I'm thinking here might be right on the money:

"Back bacon with black pudding and red onion confit panini" is one of the items on the menu. I'm SO there.
um... bit of an ask this one but I'll try it anyway, has anyone got a front STI shifter they can lend me (or sell me very cheap) for the weekend?
Got some pimpy new Ultegras on the way but won't have them for the weekend.
Otherwise its a good excuse to watch the Paris Roubaix with a beer or three 8)
I don't see flavoured lattes on the menu. Do you think if i asked they'd buy in some goats cheese especially to put in my latte?
some goats cheese especially to put in my latte?
your a sick girl, dirty. Thats wrong on all accounts.. Worse than a baileys with guiness.
You can run, but you can't hide from the yellow & blue jerseys Greig...
You'll find i can hide, although my big ears sticking out each side of the rock is a big giveaway ๐
13fm - you're just going to have to join me singlespeeding! Saying that, the course profile is a tad ๐ฏ
Bump - The weather is looking fine for Sunday with virtually no wind (or horizontal rain) ๐ฎ

Goddammit, no excuse is good enough when you singlespeeders are about, is it?
I'll be doing 120km on the singlespeed CX on Saturday (Milngavie to Crianlarich/Ardlui via Glen Ample, all comers welcome) so I would insist upon having gears on Sunday ๐ณ
Looking like one swee-eet day for this; I'm, like, totally devastated I can't make it ๐ . Great area for pumping up the climbing reserves. Someone get photos (if it's allowed)
There won't be any photies Rob - I shall be wearing shorts so everyone will be blinded by my peely wally legs after winter time ๐
Oh, did you get my em about the skull cap btw, not sure if it sent?
