We've got one of the Burley ones (d'lite), Hired one from Bothy Bikes when we were on holiday to make sure they fitted.
That was last summer, just tried the two boys in it at the weekend (a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 year old) the little buggers have grown too much so the wee one gets it to himself (means I can go for a wee cycle for his nap time).

The Burley trailer is very solid and well thought out and made(also pretty light). Great fun to get out with the kids in it but if I squeezed the pair of them in the whinging would become unbearable.

Did look at a few other trailers at hire places and nothing came close to the Burley.

We have an old Burley, bought for £40 - much better than the £300+ new!

Its great, been up down and round all over the place, including trail centre red runs, regular picnics in the Peak etc. It looks grubby, but is stable, easy to pedal with, roomy, and apparently comfy. It folds pretty flat, but does take up most of the flat space of the boot, so on hols it goes on the roof with a childs bike on top.

At 4.5yrs old, could eldest not ride a tag-along?

Echo as above - the middle lad is now tag along, eldest rides his own bike (done 8+ miles before) and youngest gets loads of space....

Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
The 4 year old can not stay on her bike so I wouldn't like to put her on a tag along yet.

We have the revolution one (edi bikes own brand). Its good value for money, we had also hired the Bothy bikes burley and were impressed. The revolution one is almost as good but was substantially cheaper. Bothy bikes also had another brand they were selling and doing demos of which was the bees knees - I think it was a chariot - but there was no way my kids trailer was going to cost more than my bike!

There are all double trailers - the only thing I would say is they are quite wide - if you never expect to tow two at once - consider the single child trailers as it will be easier on narrow paths.

I will be taking both of them in it most of the time so the wider the better.

A tandem geared trailer looks the buisiness. I recon you need one of these:

Hi,

I have an Avenir Cleveland hardbase trailer that I bought on ebay a couple of years ago sitting in the Garage because my youngest has now graduated to a tagalong. Last time I looked it was functional and safe, but I'll happily drag it out and inspect if you are interested. The important bit is that the garage in question is just outside Scarborough. The pics you will find on the web if you google are for the posh version that they still sell. Ours is similar but without the jockey wheel and bar that convert it to a pushchair. I paid around 60ukp for it about 2 years ago and it must have suffered at least 50% depreciation in the meantime. I did have 2 up briefly but my oldest was already on the tag along by the time that we got it and it covered the period between child seat and tag along for sprog 2.

Let me know if you are interested and I will drag it out, inspect and photograph.

If you get a 2 person trailer be aware that its extra width seems to end up off the main path more often and so picks up more thorns/punctures than usual possibly exacerbated by the smoother tread on the tyres than MTB tyres. Removed at least 6 thorns after 3-4 mile trip today... about to buy slime filled tubes...

Sooty - I'm based north Derby and looking for a trailer for our 6 month old. Would certainly be interested if you want to let yours go for a few beer tokens !
