What are the options for a 4 year old who has outgrown his balance bike?

I have seen Spech (Hotrock) and Ridgeback both do nice bikes with 12" / 16" wheel options. Anything else worth a look?

Islabikes - may be expensive but re-sale value is high so actual cost will prob be less than others.

The spesh hotrock has a coaster brake, and I thought the ridgeback was pretty heavy.

For those 2 reasons I got our 4yr old an Islabike cnoc16.

my youngest uses a hotrock - cranks off as a balance bike without issue for about a month- he had a balance bike before so just to get used to the new tyres and geometry 😉
I think the pedal back works well as he can break with that better than with the lever [ he cant really with the lever tbh]
Pretty sure it was less than £30 from ebay and pretty much unmarked till he had it.
Would recommend it
Isla bikes are the best by all accounts but expensive new although they do hold their value, I have never owned one though.

he is 4 but he has used his since he was 3 and he is average/small for his age and it is the 12" version.

The 20" Islabikes bikes are clearly mini XC mtbs and from Isla's input that makes perfect sense but I really can't work out what Islabikes were thinking when they designed the cnoc 16 is it meant to resemble a horrible 70s BMX or a ropey looking mtb?

Thanks all. I am thinking 16" cnoc or hotrock, will keep an eye out.

my 2 had decathlons bikes to start with as they had the same stabilisers as islabikes...makes such a difference when you can just undo them instead of needing tools to fit bikes in the car.

once they got off stabilisers, i bought them spesh hotrocks.
16 and 20 respectively....they are 4 and 5.

the good thing about decathlon bikes are that they do a 14" wheel version which lasts much better than the normal 12" wheeled bikes that people usually start with.
