Afternoon all.
In the process of upgrading both my kid's bikes and forks seem to be an area I'm struggling with.

Ordered some 20" SR Suntour forks for the youngest's Islabike last week thinking stupidly they'd go straight on. Unfortunately the frame is 1" and the for 1.125". Doh... So need to arrange to send those back but it got me thinking about just putting on a set of carbon forks and a slightly fatter tyre instead. Has anyone found any reasonably priced 20" carbon forks? Want to stick with using rim brakes as I don't want to upgrade the entire front end of the bike.

Secondly, the eldests 24" Hotrock FS. The forks on that only get through about half of their travel even with me bouncing on them so I'm planning on getting some 26" forks, disc compatible front wheel arrived today and pop a front disc brake on it. But looking at forks, I'm not sure what to get. Needs to be short'ish travel to keep the front end low but also easily setup for a 10 year old so I assume an air sprung fork would be best. Any reccommendations?

Recommendations? How about the 80mm RS SIDs I have in the garage?

@bearGrease if DaveyBoy isn't interested I might be if they're straight steerer and qr. Drop me a mail if you're definitely interested in selling.

I can recommend carboncycles.cc for carbon forks, we've had some for the kids bikes.

several years ago i bought a 24" wheel rear 26" suspension front bike off someone on here (a 46er?)
and despite my concerns the kids loved it a real fun bike to ride...nearly fighting over it

Carbon fork may be stiffer, depending on design.

I took a spring out of my pals kids Giant, he's 12 and probably 45kg so one spring works well, also needed a clean and grease.

Replacing everything isn't always the best answer.

Trials forks are an option. I’ve sourced lightweight 20” and 24” alu trials forks from ebay for budget lightweight kids builds. Saved well over a kilo on both.
