Hi all. My kids (9 boy, 13 girl) have outgrown their bikes and am looking at replacing them (bikes, not kids although it is tempting at times). Main use will be local bridleways but could include odd trail centre.

What's current thinking? I was looking at the Whyte 403 and 604 respectively, which at £600 isn't cheap.

What alternatives should I be considering and what are the views of these Whyte bikes?

Thanks,

Nim

Just bought a whyte 403 for my son (aged9), it seems pretty good.

The brakes work well, the fork whilst not being super supple does move smoothly and the adjustable rebound damping does work fine. Gears shift well. All in all pretty happy with it.

The Frog mountainbike looks comparable to the Whyte. My boy is 9, quite tall for his age. I might keep him on his current bike until a small adult bike fits.
