What have your kids used and found comfortable?

My son has some Altura ones but the padding is very thin and they have worn badly.

Endura ones look good but can't find many reviews for them.

Any real world reviews of the Louis Garneau stuff from Evans?

Thanks!

DHB lycra cycle shorts under Dakine Pace baggies are my mini rippers current favorites.

Alternatively a lightweight pair of walking shorts over lycra work just as well.

My son (9yo) has some Fox baggies that came with liner inserts, picked up at the shop on Cannock Chase. They've worn well, and seem comfy for him to wear.

That said, thanks to racing, he now prefers to be in head-to-toe lycra when on the bike. I've pointed out that it's not the done thing on an MTB, and he gives me a dead look and points out that he's more aerodynamic in his bib-shorts and the conversation ends.

I'm sorry, we've lost this one to the dark side...

I didn't know about shredxs stuff...they look good but the shorts don't seem to have a crotch pad.

At the moment, our club kit supplier doesn't do a skinsuit in his size, but it's only a matter of time...!

(Actually, I don't really mind. He's a whippet on the bike and I don't mind what he wears if he's enjoying it 🙂 )

Endura have lasted well for my boy. He's out-growing them far quicker than they are wearing out, that's for sure!

Fox, Kenny, Alpine Stars, TLD, Sombrio, Polaris, Scott, Denim shorts... not all at the same time. They've been happy in nearly all of them but the recent Fox liners are apparently too wide. Having said that, that one is pretty slimline.

We buy pre-owned Boden baggy shorts off e bay and he wears his padded shorts underneath. They look really good and last long enough for him to grow out of them.

There is also the Scottish brand shred xs but even the lighest weight ones are too thick for summer use.

Maloja make awesome kids stuff if you can find/afford it, we tend to use Madison stuff for the wee man.

Polaris or even, dare I say it: Muddy Fox. E has had some for a while. Go from his age through to adult sizes. Polaris are really well made. Though you have to negotiate their website.

Shred XS shorts here, seem very well made, very durable and they appear to be incredibly comfortable. No need for any pad, they are kids and don't suffer the need for padding like 14+ year olds do...

I fancy a pair for myself but they do make them big enough (even if I did manage to shed the 2 extra stone I'm carrying!).
