my eldest turns 6 next month and is going to be getting his first "proper" bike for his birthday, anyone looking to be rid of a kids bike who lives in the East Midlands?
Can't bring myself to splash out on £100 on a kids bike that will be too small in a year.

Get an islabike second hand. It'll cost more than £100, but as long as you get a good one and you look after it you'll be able to sell on hopefully with little or maybe no loss. A Beinn (20" wheel) might be the best bet.
Cheap bikes for kids are truly awful IMHO.
