Looking at a 34.9 seatpost for Scott Scale. Notice all their stuff seems silly light. Dont really want this post but lack of options/alternative (ritchey carbon, scott). Extensive us of scandium. Dont know anyone who has their stuff.
Can anyone recommend, comment or dissuade based on experience.
Not tried their seatposts but the jockey wheels are no good. Had both standard (lasted 2 races) and ceramic (lasted 1 race, replacement for the standard ones), it's the bearings which are rubbish. Not imediately relevant to seatposts but it has put me off the brand. Gone back to XTR.
For seatposts I would recomend a Thomson Masterpiece. Yes, I know everyone on here is always on about Thomson but this really is very good, decent weight (190ish grams) and so far indestructable. Thomson Elite is heavier, but cheaper.
Not sure of sizes but there must be a shim in your size somewhere to give more options?
I've got the prolite 8000 (not sure if they do any others). I've had it about 3 months on a Rock Lobster hardtail. I'm 80kgs and have used it so far on regular long XC rides in the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District (pretty much every Sunday), also regularly (about 3x a week) riding it to work 14 miles on a 'rough' canal towpath. It actually gets quite a hammering on the canal (yes, honestly), because you're constantly sat in the saddle and yet the terrain is quite rough being potholed throwing you backwards and forwards, which I assume puts a fair amount of strain on the post/saddle attachment. Anyway, despite the saddle attachment looking very flimsy, so far so good. Not sure I'd pay full price for one tho, you can pick them up on here for £45ish
New Ultimate do a very very nice 34.9 post, I may still have a brand new one from when I was distributor, hang on...
...no, sorry, no 34.9s left, I'd still try and track one down though, v nice seat posts. Buy from Europe, cheaper than UK prices.
I find their stuff a bit gaudy, their skewers aren't great IMO. Mt Zoom do similar stuff that's generally lighter and or cheaper, seems better IME.
cheers......will scratch my head a bit more i think, not really convinced by it based on responses
Got bars, post and stems. Find it all fine, no breakages or worries. Wouldn't recommend it with a carbon railed saddle, but apart from that would thoroughly back it.
Sorry to resurrect the thread, but to put my experiences down:
I've had four KCNC posts, one for a Scott - all were excellent, no problems with any. They use Ti bolts, so grease them up to stop any creaking.
The one on the Scott needs a little bit of Carbon assembly paste so you dont need to overtighten the clamp.
The Sc Pro lite posts, with the layback, are absolutley brilliant - they're about 40g heavier, but they have such a great clamp. I'm running one on the AM bike.
KCNC Wing stem here. Very nice and light. No probs.
Loads of KCNC on all of my bikes. seatposts, V brakes, jockeywheels, stems etc etc
Some of the graphics can be a bit gaudy but the quality is good.
The mtzoom stuff is also nice for the money.
I've got a 400mm KCNC seatpost running <5mm short of max extension on my 29er Scandal & it hasn't complained about my 87kg as of yet.... (it's taken some good hits too)
On my Scale I run a 34.9 SASO thing ordered from Germany. Good price / weight balance. I think it's also fairly common to run Scales with post shims no? Guy I bought my Scale frame from was doing just that...
