Does anyone use a Kaffenbak for cross racing? Pics??! Considering one as my winter all rounder - road, cx, tourer...

I've got one and have used it for a variety of off and on road stuff - generally very pleased with it.

I've never raced CX... I imagine most CX racers would consider it heavy... Tyre clearance between the rear wheel and the front mech mount is a bit tight if you intend to run anything knobbly...

If cx racing is high on the reasons to buy the bike, I'd look elsewhere. Uncle John would be better and makes a great winter bike and passable tourer. I've got the original Ti cross from which the uncle john was born and it does a great job of the above. Kaffenback clearances are a bit tight for a cx tyre in proper mud like on a cx course imo though ok for fire trail and gravel track action.

cheers, was just an idle thought on the kaff. blimmin short headtube potentially also an issue as my long legs necessitate a higher front end.

Been looking at uncle johns too, but the frames have dissapeared from the PX website... Have mailed them.

I already have a 56cm Graham Weigh, which is just a little on the small side, so was just wondering what else was around. At £200 frame fork and headset, I think I might just get a 58cm of the same thing...

Anything from On One will be too heavy for actual CX racing. PX are doing the Guercotti CX frames which are proper race bikes, but they are much more expensive.

Kaffenback good for all else though - pub, winter training, touring, hacking etc.

Nonsense. No such thing. If you've got the legs you could win on one.
