Ok, not a cheat as such...... Was pondering lejog today whilst daydreaming at work. Now seeing as I live slap bang in the middle of the country I was considering getting a train down South, do LE to home, have a rest at home for a day then catch train up North and do JOG to home.
Would I be shunned for life by the lejog community for doing this?

Eh? I almost stopped for a night at home when doing mine and I know lots of other folk do. It's your "challenge", do it as you see fit. When would you be thinking of doing it?

Edit: the one down-side I can see is that you may feel less sense of "achievement" by not actually arriving at either Lands End or JoG.

As long as you come up with a suitable acronym you should avoid a lynching.

A friend of mine did LE to home then died in bed before he did the rest. Just saying...

Why not just get the train back from JOG, same time/distance surely, unless you were counting the train as 'rest', in which case I'd rather spend another half day at home!

It's legit even if you break it up into chunks.

One bit one week, another bit some other week, etc

But you haven't done it properly until you've Dunnet. That's a Lizard's Heads up.

Scotroutes next year, spring probably. Agreed about the achievement, I imagine seeing the signpost at the end is amazing. Seeing my garage door probably won't have the same effect.

Ah yes, an acronym...... Hmmmmm

There'll always be a bed for you in Aviemore - and some company (for the riding you fool!)

Suffer from the same conundrum myself, living near Carnforth. A friend's planning on doing the full LEJOG next year, I've suggested joining him for the CJOG leg as I don't really fancy the LEC half.

Same here. If you come through Hudds.

You can think twice before stopping here in Sheff. Our washing machine isn't strong enough to deal with what you'll do to the sheets.

(how long're you planning on taking? want a riding buddy?)

Luke, thanks for the offer but even If I were to do it, how stupid so you think I am to even be in the same post code area as you with half the country still to ride?!! ๐Ÿ˜›

As I say it was daydream stuff as I was sat at work

As above - really not sure why you wouldn't be going from home to JOG rather than the other way around - then it's just LEJOG via home. Just as much train travel with added sense of 'arrival' when you get to JOG.

I'd say ride LE to home, have a day off, then ride home to JOG and get the train home.

As said above, it's the same amount of train travel, and you get to enjoy the arrival. It can be a pain to get back, but all worth it. The last few days (almost irrespective of how many days you're doing) are the best riding!
