Immensely satisfying, did an old fork on my son's bike with a cheap kit off Amazon, all went really smoothly, except the last few threads of the coil were very stiff (snapped the tab off), and the bolt going in was pretty stiff also, I really needed to do a better job of cleaning out swarf, lesson learned.

But that aside, fork is fixed, brake is solid again, and the wheel spins freely. Extremely pleased.

How did you drill it? Sounds like a good job, always nice when you resurrect something.

It's good isn't it, instantly feels like you've levelled up your Manliness score.

Kit included a 6.2mm drill bit (kit was M6x1.0). Just put a bolt in to see how the existing hole was aligned, and drilled slowly and carefully.

Exactly that. I feel like building a steam engine or something next
