Are there any good tips on freeing up a sticky lever piston on juicy 5?

braking is fine but the lever is very slow to return to normal and feels very floppy until the biting point....

tips/links much appreciated!

(the brakes are fully bled and work fine BTW)

give the caliper a service/clean - if that doesn't cure it you can by a pair or replacement pistons and seals for £10 on CRC.

Contaminated, seals gone, could be lots of things. Download the service manual and go through it. Mind Fisher have been very slow getting juicy spares out lately if your LBS doesn't have the service kit.

Good luck.

I've had a few sticky calipers but its never affected the lever. Its easy to check the calipers though. If you don't know how - Get the rear wheel off the ground (upside down or stand). Spin the wheel and lightly squeeze the brake lever. You should be able to see if one piston doesn't return or is slow in returning.
If a piston is sticky then take the wheel and pads off, its easier to take the caliper off the bike too. Just squeeze the lever then push the piston back into the caliper using a spanner or something that won't mark them (especially the sides). Do this a few times and it has always fixed it for me. I once had to use a bit of brake fluid to lube the piston.

to clarify, pistons fine at the caliper end - it's the lever not returning. feels like there is some crap in the lever/master cylinder.

The caliper is fine and pistons returning no problem.
