Apologies if this thread covers old ground, I've done a search on 'J&L' and nothing came back.
I'm in the market for a decent 580mm flat bar for my retro Kona build. Funnily enough, eBay doesn't appear to be awash with NOS silver Hyperlites, but I did drop across this:
Has anyone got any experience of J&L, good or bad? The price seems very reasonable but I suppose a length of titanium tube doesn't really cost the earth to produce and there's no boutique brand name to push the price up.
My riding is very much XC, I'm light on bikes (the last component I can remember physically breaking was a USE alloy bar in the early 90s after a heavy front wheel landing during a jumping competition up my local woods!) and I weigh around 13 stone.
Basically a piece of Ti tubing with a shim.
very similar design to an X-lite Ti bar I had in about 1993 - that bent within 2 rides.
I've fitted three of them so far and they are fine. Not as light as the pricier stuff but close enough.
Has anyone got any experience of J&L, good or bad?
A friend had one of their seatposts, it broke off at the post/head join during a tour last year. Looked inside it and tbh I'd avoid using one knowing how it's put together. Not sure if the bars and other parts are made by the same people though to be fair.
Just saw this
