Anyone actually got/used this? Quite expensive so looking for some feedback!
I have a jetboil (MiniMo) which is great for what it is, looking for something a bit bigger/more versatile though for proper-ish cooking on a bike packing trip.
It's either the 1.5L pot for the jetboil or get another stove that can use a regular pot and take it instead of or alongside the jetboil. (In which case, any recommendations? Prefer something that uses the same kind of gas canisters!)
I use both the sumo pot - the big tall one that clips on that holds over a litre - that will cook pasta for two and we also have the big wide pot for longer trips or when we want to cook a bit more.
The big wide pot which I guess is the one that you mean also needs the pot stand bit on the stove so cannot just be left like the clip on pots - but it does mean you can cook a bigger range of things. For me it was expensive but worth it. YOu can fry it in which is very useful
Thanks, I have seen the Sumo before but didn't twig until now that it actually has a bigger capacity than the big wide pot! I assume that it has the same problem when cooking as my MiniMo though, i.e. the hot spot is very intensely focussed on the centre so it's easy to burn sauces etc and weld them to the bottom!
Is the big wide pot better for cooking i.e. stuff is less likely to stick/burn? Frying stuff would be a nice bonus too for brekkie!
I'm sure you can't fit your Sumo in the big pot, do you think I might be able to fit my MiniMo 1L pot (which is the same diameter) in there though and close it all up?
Already have the extra pot stand (bought that it the Go Outdoors sale last week!!)
the sumo is the 1.1l pot! The big wide one is fine for cooking. You still need to be careful but the heat exchanger does make it a bit better. Cooked bacon and eggs in and and also fried fish
Its not as good tho as other cooking things tho - still the small flame. A pocket rocket stove is better for cooking but we find the jetboil zip with the 0.7l pot with coffee filter and the wide 1.5 l pan all we need
thanks. Yeah I have the coffee thing too, a nifty add on!! Reckon I will invest in the big 1.5L pot, I really like the way the jetboil works on the whole, really easy to ignite & good windproof-ness.
