Looks like we have a couple of riders doing the 100 offroad then the Fred Whitton on Sunday 🙂
This is what the event is supporting
http://theadventuresyndicate.com/our-schools-project/
😐
Great news to see this again, last year was a laugh so i'll be in attendance again. Will try not to leave my cash/cards in Ambleside Spar again and have to go back for it from the bottom of Garburn 🙁
Wow amazed at the amount of entries already 😯
Hit the 100 mark 🙂 do it in a oner if you have the legs or be sociable during the ride and a couple of pints at some of the best pubs in the Lakes
Rich, is there a limit on the number of places?
And if not, when is the last time I can sign up?
There are 3 rides which are on 3 different routes at the start so there should be plenty of room for 200 bods.
Had 200 sign up last year but only 160 started 🙄

Just entered - this looks pretty damn special!
Projected route it might have slight weeks after I have ridden it!

We're in 😀 Will be doing it a bit more gently this year, a bit close to the HT550 to push it.
Had 200 sign up last year but only 160 started
To be fair, I think a lot of people will have signed up well in advance, not being 100%, but knowing that it's money straight to a good cause whether they turn up or not. I know I did.
Pretty sure I would have said if I hadn't been able to come, but it might be worth repeating nearer the time that space is scarce and people want your space if you can't make it.
Edit: different set-up this year with donations/ tickets, though.
Unfortunately the Schools project has not got charitable status so the just giving was not an option. Eventbrite saves me a lot of hassle of notifying riders and keeping up to date of numbers.
The Hospice will be getting 25% of ticket sales with 75% going on to the Schools project minus the hire of toilets for the Friday campers.
No one will be making money out of this event! maybe the Hawkshead Brewery 🙂
The
quote was not a bitch its just the way events go and always an option to let 250 to sign up with a good chance only 200 will startHad 200 sign up last year but only 160 started
maybe the Hawkshead Brewery
Ha! 😀
We've got a tiny human on the way, due not long after, so I might be one of those singing up and seeing what happens nearer the time.
10% no-show is pretty common. These days with on-line event entry being a couple of clicks it's quite common for 20% not to turn up - look at the Ard Rock threads for an example. A local fell race is limited to 400 but the organiser always takes 450 entries because he knows from experience that the actual number on the day will be around 380 - 400.
^^ I have entered a few events to “set a goal” / get fit enough and then find as date approaches I am no where near ready. Allowed event to resell the ticket if possible
Rich looks very tempting (again), just needs fitness (for the 50!), bikepacking gear and a car suitable to transport a bike 😐 of those the first is the most troublesome
Signed up for this. It'll be my first self supported route ride, not sure about whether to go for the 50 or the 100 at the moment - i guess it'll depend on how well I do at the chub club.
I'm obviously being dim - but I can not see where to pay up for this.
Awesome weekend last year - but must make sure I make to the pub in time this year.
IN, always a Great weekend 😀
I'm in-
Had a great time last year, looking forward to the new route...
Anyone else coming from the South West? Could do a car share.
Cheers
Joe
125 signed up with 250 interested according to the face book page, lots of newbies to the bike packing malarky so all good, not many young uns come on mums/dads/guardians get on it. 14 plus for the 50 I reckon.
Rich
150 signed up routes are sorted and the Adventure Bike night @ Wheelbase Cycles is coming along nicely, did I mention Wood fired Pizzas and a Brewery 🙂

Beer from the Beer Hall Hawkshead Brewery may have Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery supplying beer for the Adventure Film night and finishers bottle 🙂
Wood fired Pizzas from Firebelle
160 have signed up
What was the photo Brennak ?
Just a bit of fun Rich

Caravan ready, caravan site booked and bike ready, same can't be said of me, 6 weeks to get ready, finished work again to train up
Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery are the proud suppliers of beer for the #jennride 🙂
Would be great to see more youngsters coming this is what it looks like on a summers day these are taken on the 50 mile route(remember you don't have to do it all)

Alpkit in Ambleside are kindly giving out free cake and coffee as you pass the store on the 50 and 100 mile routes I have just been informed thanks ALPKIT
https://www.alpkit.com/stores/ambleside
173 signed up probably going to cap at 200 so get in there quick!!
We did a little bit of the route on Sunday, basically the Ambleside to Iron Keld descent sort of loop. The coffin road between Rydal and Grasmere has seen "improvements". There's still the bit of hike-a-bike in the middle though.
Read an weep the stats probably the toughest one yet after the preride this weekend in very hot and wet conditions!
Got 5 miles to play with so will probably miss the Bridleway to Sadgill out as its a swamp!
What an awesome route! Great to meet you Rich, and thanks very much for organising! Really enjoyed the riding - familiar with bits of it, but far from all of it, A shame it rained overnight when I just had a bivi bag. Did about 70miles yesterday, and finished today just before 11.00. Tired, but far from broken.
Highlights
Walna Scar down to Torver. ****in' ace!
Thrashing the descent down through Grizedale in the gloom, barely able to see where I'm going. Had to have a bit of a word with myself afterwards as I was getting carried away, but man, it was fun.
Bimbling along the side of a deserted and still Windermere first thing this morning. Beautiful.
Lows
Pain in the arse Alpkit tailpack that kept coming loose/falling off, even after Alpkit in Ambleside replaced it for me with a brand new one. Many cable ties needed.
Garmin crashing. Good job I'd brought a map!
Seeing Walna Scar and realising quite how far up I still had to go. Worth it for the descent though!
The aforementioned rain.
Putting on yesterdays sodden socks this morning!
Thanks Rich for an incredible weekend. Much harder than last year I thought. The extra ascent and hike-a-bikes really upped the ante, and the heat on Sunday didn't help. The rain in the night was also a challenge, especially for one of our party who didn't bring a tarp with him. I was cursing the push up Walna Scar first thing Sunday morning but then this made it all worthwile... 🙂

Yep, high fives all round. Every rider was having a blast. Really should have done some training. Weather was lovely, route was excellent. Beer waiting at the finish was very welcome. Some photos;

Daz - did you get your card and cash back? (It was me who called you as you were heading up Claife Heights)
Yeah I did thanks. Thanks for the shout! Although I could've done without the sprint back to get it then the sprint to catch back up on the climb 🙂
Great to meet you guys at the weekend. Still in awe at watching you (think it was you) ride up Walna Scar when the rest of us were shuffling up it like zombies.
Ha! Yes it was him (Whitestone, it was me that gave you Daz's card.
I was broken by then and there was just no way I could have caught him up )
Really nice to put a few faces to names.
An awesome weekend
Looks bloody great that.
@dazh - more a case of plugging away than anything else. I'd no intention of blasting the route in one go this year but then my wife stated that I'd be riding with her for the weekend 🙂 We were pretty chilled about things (despite the temperatures -I can't believe that there's been two stunning weekends of weather in a row): Sat was 8hrs riding and 4hrs stops; Sunday was 5hrs riding and 4hrs stops!
We skipped Claife Heights (and the Three Rivers descent) as my bottom bracket was making some truly horrific noises - it's a PF30 with an HTII adaptor and it's actually the adaptor that's failed as you can see the bearing cups move in relation to the frame! Now need to get it fixed for the Highland Trail in a couple of weekends.
@sandwicheater I don't think that pier was on the route was it? 😂
Thanks for organising Rich, it was my first time bikepacking, and my first ride over 40 miles. With a bit of preparation I might even have enjoyed myself! Same again next year?
The Etrex that was found, was it missing it's back? We lost 1 and half between us but were reunited with 1 of them at Torver, so it could be ours.
I got 22 miles round (of the 50) before my bike had a catastrophic failure (freehub broke). After failing to repair it in the field by rigging the bike up as a fixie with zip ties I walked back to Ambleside to see if any of the bikeshops could help me out. In the end Alpkit lent me a demo bike so that I could ride to Staveley and collect the van (since it was their freehub that failed, and not for the first time). Not the ride I had planned.
What I did ride I really enjoyed - it's a brilliant route and once I have everything fixed I'll be out to ride it solo as soon as I can, then maybe tackle the 100 miler as a 3 dayer.
Thanks for organising Rich. See you all next year.
Dynamic yes its missing a back so send me your address and i will get it in the post!
Well what can I say, what a weekend. The route was tough, really tough, but so rewarding. Some superb lakes single track, great craic and banter and a really warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Caught up with quite a few folk I hadn't seen for a while, and met a load of like minded people, all out to have a good day on the bike.
The weather held all day, some rain on Saturday night arrived just after we had slipped into sleeping bags and began drifting off into that deep sleep that comes after big days on the bike in the hills.
Sunday saw us up sharp for the push up onto Parkamoor then the epic descent through Grizdale forest. More up and down and finally the breakfast that had become lunch in The Apple pie in Ambleside.
The ride back to Staveley with full stomachs and aching legs was a great finish to a great event.
Thanks to Rich and all those involved for a great event raising money for a very deserving cause
