hoping to be fit and able this time. after bottling it after 2 hours (turns out i had a good reason to jack). i will be hoping to release my chains of shame.
I should be there Rich but will be either taking it steady or will be "economical with the route" as I've a big ride later in the month. 😉
Much change to the 100 mile route rich?
It was a great weekend last year, will be back again 🙂
On the outward leg it doesn't go over into Longsleddale or round by Rydal and Grasmere and skips Hawkshead to go to Coniston then over Walna Scar, back round by Stephenson Ground, up Parkamoor and through Grizedale. A different exit off Claife Heights and doesn't go over Green Quarter to finish.

Going up Garburn at the beginning missing Longsleddle Valley no Grasmere and you go up and down Walna Scar so yes but left all the other good bits from last year.
50 miler comes back over the ferry don't forget ya £1
Sounds good.
last year sunday morning.

Top man Rich, thanks for putting this on. Really enjoyed the first year. See you on the Friday night!
Really want to remember Jenn this year.
Might have to ride the Kona Hei Hei she sorted out for me.
Hopefully my body won't pack in a week beforehand this time around.
I'll bring my pushing shoes! For Garburn and Walna Scar. 🙂
I'll enter again but try to show up this time.
Oh Yeah!! I will be there. liking the idea of the 50 miler - its time I faced facts that the 100 mile is too much for me. The 50 will give me time to take in all the [s]pubs[/s] scenery like the real bikers do :-).
Whoohoo looking forward to this!
Rich, going up that side^? 😐 It was hard enough riding down!
Rich, enjoyed this year and will be back 2018 all going to plan.
2017 was fabulous - but must make sure to get the pub tea in though for 2018
2017 was fabulous
Indeed it was, well apart from the torrential downpour on the top of Garburn Pass 😳
@nedrapier - it's most definitely a push going up that way!

Happy I missed that! Dry and nearly sunny by the time we made it there!
@nedrapier - it's most definitely a push going up that way!
Not surprised in the least! 5" tyres, 100 mm rims, 4.5 psi and a tiny gear might get you a bit further, but steep, loose, round rocks are steep, loose, round rocks!
Is it up the garburn pass the same way as 2016? That push up literally shredded my SPD shoes - split right across the sole.
Had to have my shoes gaffer taped up for the rest of the ride - flats and fell running trainers next time for me!
This was the best bike event I did this year. Will definitely be back, along with a few others who are getting a bit bored of me telling them how great it was 🙂
It was very hit and miss this year with the showers - we were dropping in to Ambleside and there was a massive shower on the other side of town, ten minutes quicker and we'd have been soaked!
Looking at the 100 mile route in the link in Rich's post I think I'll definitely be liberal in my interpretation of the route 😀
Looks like the pub in Torver could be busy 🙂
Can someone ring ahead and ask them if we can bivvy in the car park?
Nice photo of my lad heading back over Garburn Rich! "Lads 'n Dads" route... 😉
Hey Polisherman, I was hoping one of you would see this. I quite like this photo, your lad rode it nicely as well. Big tyres were a definite help down there. I had a much better time on 4" JJ's than my riding pals did on 2.3s
Paul, Emma, and I were to-ing and fro-ing with you and your lads on the way up and down.
Another way of putting it would be that your lads billygoated past us on the way up like climbing machines who hadn't already done 90-odd Lakes miles!
bigger version if you want it:
Holidays will be getting booked tomorrow for this.Missed last year due to dislocating my shoulder so looking forward to next year's.
Thanks for the early realease of dates help get holidays sorted.
Ace. Hopefully I'll actually be able to make this one (and I'm putting it in the calendar right now).
Hi nedrapier, nice photo, but you've mistooken us for someone else! 😉
I was commenting on the photo of my son at the top of the thread (with the orange and red bags) 🙂
Ha! should have been obvious, as it wasn't Rich's photo, but chap in mine was with his dad and brother, on Garburn Pass. Though you might have misread whose photo was whose!
Looking forward to it, but may be bit more relaxed on the route to enjoy the pub stops this time
Same weekend as the whitton?

Reading lot signed up for 2018, l’ll bring a gadget this time, rather than lose time reading the OS map.
In. Looking forward to it.
Is the short 50 miler still on only planning on bringing the 13 yr old
In, going to follow Dazh's shortcuts this time, not following Ton though 🙂
Yes the 50 miler is still on no ticket needed for under 16,s
Cheers mate already bought my ticket , he'll be a happy little chap ,wrt the weekend prior and then this one
Just signed up- really looking forward to it! Rich, do you need me to state which distance I'm going for? Im probably going to go for the 50 mile but if my fitness drive keeps momentum I might just go for the 100. when would you need me to commit?
Also in. Looking forward to more mountain biking this year than in 2017!
