I've killed my bike, what can I replace it with?

My 2018 Marin B17 3 frame snapped in two places last night, luckily just before I was about to launch along Launchpad and Countdown in the dark in the FofD. I can't find the receipt for it so I presume there's little point complaining to Marin.

I can't really afford a full suspension frame to replace the broken one, so I'm looking for a hardtail frame that I can transfer all the bits over to. Ideally 27.5+, anyone got any suggestions?

I say I can't afford a full suspension replacement, but I might be seriously tempted by Sonder Ti Broken Road. All my other bikes are steel and I like that material.

What is your budget? (and size) would 2nd hand work?

https://www.bird.bike/product/aeris-120-frameset/#configuration £610 new without shock but I believe its the same size as the one in the b17

In the best Singletrackworld.com tradition of recommending what you've got, it's got to be a Ragley Piglet. Good fun set up Plus, and an absolute mad bastard of a thing when running mere 2.3s.

The rear shock I have left is 210 x 50mm, 120mm travel. Do I need to match all those measurements for it to be compatible with a replacement frame?

I have got the Piglet on my HT shortlist. Seems to be good value atm.

I could definitely go for a full suspension frame if a suitable one was available. This bike is my mountain, mountain bike if you know what I mean.

i've got a 27.5+ dartmoor primal HT. It was dirt cheap (£225) a couple of years ago and i've been through the top jumps of GBU on it!

the octane one sour 27.5+ is currently £205 on crc if its teh right size. EDIT actually they are all gone - sorry - But the NS eccentric alu is available but a 2.4 rear tyre.

Who did you buy it from? Try contacting them or Marin and see what they say. Even if you don't get a full warranty replacement, you might be able to get a replacement frame at a decent price. Otherwise just look for a FS frame with the same shock size and swap the components over.

I’ve had a pipedream moxie recently which I sold and regretted so have built up a sale pace rc627. Seems great for the price, no difference to the moxie really.

I'm building a Pace atm and it's a lovely frame. There were still some discounted ones left last time I looked.

Personally wouldn’t get a tarn, was leaden and lacked any fun factor. I was massively disappointed.

Nukeproof scout isn’t steel but would be a good playful hardtail. Sonder Transmitter would also be a cheap hardtail frame to move things across. A lot of ragley frames recently reduced on chain reaction to, including their steel offerings.

Personally I’d trawl your emails if you bought it online, bound to find a receipt there, or if you bought it locally contact them as even without a receipt they may be able to confirm your ownership or help.

Failing that contact Marin and see if they have a crash replacement scheme, still cost. £ but cheaper than a full replacement cost.

Have you got the credit card/bank details of the purchase?
I’d email Marin first things first if you are the original owner. No idea who their distributor is in the UK though.

Edit - Marin UK is based in Corsham , just outside Bath so not too far away if you’re a FOD local.

The Marin frame warranty for full suspension bikes is 5 years in the US so you might be easily easily in depending on if the UK us the same. Rigid frames and forks are Lifetime warranty.

Only the bit in bold, you will likely need new mounting hardware which is about £20 if not included with the frame,it should fit the bird I linked.
