[Closed] Is welding this cracked frame worth it?

I've picked up this small crack on my Sub-5 frame just where the shock mount attaches to the down tube - the frame is well beyond warranty. I've no idea how aluminium welding works or how it affects the strength of the area. Does anyone know if I get it welded whether it will last, or will it always be a bit of a worry? I've lots of great use from this frame, over nearly 10 years so I'm not bitter, but I'd like it to last a little bit longer if possible.

At 10 years old I'd be putting that on the wall and buying something new. If you are really stuck drill two small holes at the ends of the crack and ride with care.

Speak to Orange first, they might do you a deal or something. If you do weld it, make sure you get it heat treated again or it'll be softer than a medium cheddar.

easy repair done a few frames all you do is
clean the joint up ally tig dont like any paint or oil or grease afer youve welded the crack up quench in cold water and leave the frame for 2 weeks so the process can age harden to with in 95% of its original strenght i repaired a 97 zaskar frame 3 years ago thats still going strong that had a cracked head tube and seat tube and the last one was a tomac eli last year that is still hammered weekly.but if you dont want to repair it if its a medium give it to me i,ll repair it and ride it.
