[#5789967]

I need a new front derailleur shifter, to accommodate 2 x 10.

I think I'm going mad - is this the right one for the front end?

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-xt-m780-10-speed-trigger-shifter/rp-prod69488

The "left hand" shifter is all it says in the description, am I correct in assuming thats the Front shifter then?

yes, that's correct one

was going to say it's the right one, but that could be confusing!

From the 'questions' on CRC

"Is it compatible with 2 speed front derailleur?

Yes; the M780 shifters have a Mode Selector so you can switch them between 2 or 3 speed operation as required."

and from another "The left hand shifter is suitable for 3 speed and the right hand for 10 speed."

So would imply the left is fine, even though the description talks about 10 cogs etc.

Anyway - just to check, your derailleur is Shimano?

Ah cheers for the clarification - deadkenny yes everthing is shimano and I'm just going from triple to double at the front, and need to replace my existing M770 shifter.

Cheers

You don't need a new shifter just adjust the limit screw correctly and you'll be fine.

Yeah that's what I did before dumping my front derailleur completely!
