picked up a trek superfly 9.8 with a 100mm head tube. looking at forks with 160mm steerer tube...

A Ragley Stubbing stem has about the lowest stack height at 30mm. That leaves about 27mm for a headset. If it's fully/partially integrated then you might make it.

Can be... you can get a 35mm stack stem, with the headset upper that should be say 40mm... giving you 20mm.

Personally I'd want more just in case... but could be done i think.

the superfly should be integrated headset. You'll have enough steerer at 160 to fit a stem, but not a lot of adjustment.

i've found some rebas with a 190mm steerer, so i think i'll play it safe. Ta!  good budget integrated headset anyone?
