I have a pretty good condition 1985 Raleigh Clubman with period parts (apart from bar tape and some £30 quid wheels) as my pub bike. Would it be blasphemy to stick some long drops on it, 700C wheels and some semi-slicks to turn it into an SSCX/Commuting/Pub machine.
I was considering getting it re-sprayed some fancy colour with a load of flek in it but not sure if that's taking it too far.
It is a lovely bike as it is but after commuting the cheeky way it handles well offroad (although the front wheel is actually a track wheel and the rear is already having play issues after a week) as is and I wouldn't mind a slightly more comfy ride with some slightly more up to date parts.
TL;DR thinking about re-spraying a pretty good condition vintage road bike to make it into a SSCX machine. Nothing wrong with it as it is I am just toying with the idea.
