there's a lot of scratching there so difficult to tell but I'd want to discuss it with whoever I'd bought it from and agree a way forward with either professional investigation or a refund...

Looks like a crack to me, although I wouldn't have taken the paint off unless you've spoken to who you bought it off first?

I didn't take the paint off- thats how it came out the box.

Will email the seller and have a chat.

There you go then. Assuming it is a crack, as it looks, then there's clear indication that they knew.

I wouldn't have the confidence to ride that i'm afraid. Whether it was cheap or not, i'd send that back.

I struggle to find a word that shows the lack of regard a seller would have to sell a cracked frame. Just kidding.

what makes you think the seller knew? i know loads of riders who ride well but know nothing about bikes at all. not noticing bent/cracked frames, wheels etc.. just playing devils advocate.

If it is the one in uplinks link, I'd be very surprised if that particular seller knowingly ripped someone off.

It is Scant's 5.

He's offered me a refund, but i'm going to email Orange/hunt for a swingarm first as I had my heart set on a Five.

Great that he offered a refund, not so great not mentioning it in the first place.

Glad to see people working together to sort the issue though.
