Hello, first post.
I'm upgrading the components on my Rockhopper pro 2008 over the next few months.
I bought a new Hope Pro IIs on M719s wheelset from Merlin last night and am planning to purchase a pair of 2009 Rockshox Race Rebas from either Chain Reaction or in the On One sale.
Is there anything I should look out / for be aware of with regard to fitting a Rockshox Race Reba.
Any advice greatly appreciated,
Cris
They are good forks, and will probably suit your frame very well. Be aware that you will need to do fair bit of initial faffing with air pressures and set-up in genaral before they give their best for you. Also, the air pressures printed on the fork or in the manual are generally on the high side. Start at the lowest end of the scale for you weight and go from there.
When setting air pressures it's easy to get an inbalance between the positive (+ve) and negative (-ve) pressures which can drag the fork down and reduce travel without you realising it. To avoid this, set +ve pressure, then set -ve. If you need to change (Especially when LOWERING pressures) let all the -ve pressure out, then reset the +ve before resetting the -ve. Sounds complicated, but it's not really, only takes a few seconds. (And keep the +ve and -ve pressures the same to start with at least.....)
🙂
They're good forks, though possibly seems a slight mismatch with the wheels which are pretty tough and not particularly light.

719S are only about 40g each heavier than 717s, not really mismatched, but I see what you're getting at. 🙂
Sorry, scrub that, 65g heavier according to Mavic. Still not too bad 🙂
If On one still has stock buy the Team's .A steal at £250. Has the Blackbox dampening upgrade over Motion Control. I am very pleased with mine. Received mine 2 weeks ago and had a little play with them, then two days later broke my arm ( fell of bike coming back from a poker night at mate's place, the shame...), so have to wait another 4 weeks before I can start fettling with mine. 😥
Is The Rockshox Race Reba The Right Fork For Me? YES!
I've got a set of these. The set-up is very simple as long as you read the manual. I found setting the + VE first and then matching the -VE second (like it says in the manual). Then take the shock pump out with you on the first few rides and add the -VE as necessary.
They do take a short while to bed in, but I think that can be said about all airforks.
Servicing and extending the travel is very easy thanks to PP's guide!
Thanks guy.
Does anyone know if the Rebas in the "On One" sale come with the manual and shock pump?

I upgraded my wheels to Hope Pros 2s on 719s as I wanted something stronger and reliable. I ride quite aggressively (Innerleithen / Keilder / Glentress / big country stuff) and have bust a few lighter rear wheels in races in the past!
Thanks again,
Cris
I would imagine the On One forks are OE ones, and won't come with a pump. You can get a good pump for about £17 from Halfords that is actually identical to the RS one apart from the colour! Manuals are all available free on the SRAM site to download
