Got two new sets of 700c wheels and want to set them up tubeless. What’s the Stw go to sealant?

Summarising a recent thread, "yes, in the main".... Though I use cafelatex myself.

I've been using Stans for years, just switched to the racing Stans. This week I used it in my 700c gravel tyres, it looks better than the standard product, lots more filaments in it, you can only put it in with the tyre off the rim, but I've always done it this way.
Still have the standard Stans in the Meta probably going to change it over this week.

I spent 30 bloody pounds on Stan's Race sealant and so far it has sealed a total of zero of the punctures I've had. Had one on the XC tyres, one on my plus tyres, one in my road tyres and one in my big tyres on the enduro bike. It's not worked on any of them - generally tiny holes in the sidewall, around 1mm across at the most.

There must be something better. I'm tempted to try that Tyre Yoghurt stuff.

Still use tubes - but with sealant.

Without sealant: way too many punctures. And yes - Stans is low cost and good stuff.

Bit of a mess so: refill every 4 months or so ...

I wonder if this is because they are sidewall holes? I've had some big holes sealed with Stans but they were in the tread. Thinking about it, as you ride along, the sealant is nowhere near the sidewalls. If this were me I'd remove the wheel, pump up the tire more and swill the sealant around to the hole. This works pretty well when sealing up non-tubeless ready type porous tyres.

As for refilling, I just took some Spesh 2-bliss tyres off my bike and there was still 30ml of (Stan's) sealant in each one after at least a year. It seems to last a hell of a lot longer when you are using tubeless-ready tyres.

Another vote for Orange seal - used to use Stan's but this just works better.

The thing with stans race sealant is it is what it says on the tin, it is for a race. I found it dried out in a couple of weeks, and glued my tyres to the rim. Stick to normal stans for normal use.

Stans ordered. Cheers it’s what I’ve always used with no issues so should be fine. Just glad to get a chance to get out.

I use Stans Race and after taking my tyres off after being on for nearly a year it was still liquid!

Much depend on tyres you are using. The more porous, the newer the quicker liquid base of sealant evaporates.

Realized that the longest and best results I used to have on oldish tyres, that were already treated with same/different sealant in the past. Could have plenty of still very liquid sealant inside even after 13-14 months.

Cheers!
I.

I just took some Rocket Rons off the Scott eSpark I've been on since November - I fitted them with Stans Race and when I changed tyres this week there were dozens of rabbit-dropping size pellets of Stans rolling around in the tyre. I had heard something rolling in the tyre for a few weeks and just ignored it...... anybody had droppings forming from 'Race?

OKO sealant for me, £7 a litre from local DIY/Hire store. I have never had tyres stay up as well, dug the HT out during the week and had exactly the same psi in as when I left it 4 weeks ago, running maxxis and schwalbe.
Fairly thick so needs a bit more than stans etc and I notice green blobs on the side walls but I'm assuming that's because it's sealing the sidewalls and doing its job.
Will take a major disaster before I switch back to the expensive stuff.

I use Joe's because it was marginally cheaper.

Or just send moar shred hard.

I had Stans fail to seal a puncture I thought it would have done 500 metres from the end of doing the C2C last week (Hope rims and Pro One tyres) although it had sealed a few thorn punctures I didn’t even know about.

I’m trying Orange Seal now, nothing to report so far though.
