This one is a cliff hanger.

Sticker/Crack?

Hiding/Dead?

Any news? Have you ridden the bike and had a horrific accident due to the failure, or a red face due to your realisation it is a sticker?

I thought it was a sticker when I looked at the photos, but it seems a very strange place to put a sticker.

I think he's too 'undapressure' to give an answer...

If it was a crack surely he'd have been back to tell us by now. If it was a sticker, chances are he wouldn't.

not sure yet. been away so havent been able to post. Gotta take it back to the shop though for inspection. For those of you who put down op cluelessness it must be you who are clueless as in my original post i pointed out the two possibilities. All i was after were some impartial opinions. so jog on. i suspect its just mud but its a strange one as i cant feel an edge although i can elsewhere and that is the only potentially taped section with mud under it. Time will tell.

surely you can figure out if its a sticker or not? not rocket science to determine that

Telling contributors to jog on. Nice one, hope youre not expecting a load of advice for your next basic newbie style question. Have you done anything that anyone suggested?!

You're taking it back to the shop to determine whether its a sticker????

I reckon the left hand side's a sticker and the right hand side's a crack.
Or possibly it's the right hand side that's a sticker and the left hand side's a crack.

Either way, it's only half as bad as it could be.

God, how far's this shop, have they sent the bike to NASA for further test?

Or

It's that easy to tell apart, I come round and have a look if you like.

Sorry fella, you expect us to tell from a photo, while you've got the bike in front of you and you can't tell?

That's where the "clueless" comments come in.

Is it a sticker, or a crack though?

Any news?

This must be the slowest LBS in the world.

they've probably sent it off to a specialist for detailed analysis

It might seem like a stupid question but is there a crown race in there? Does the bike come with one?

I'd forgotten about this thread. Lovely response by the OP on this page too. I think MTG has it right.

Think the OP sulked away in embarrassment at being such a goon.

We really ought to keep this one going chaps.

thread has so far been a right disappointment. Perhaps we should spam the OP's other posts/threads about it?

I didn't pay good money to be let down like this. 😡

Nice.

A guy asks for a bit of help and then like a pack of mindless animals everyone rips into him for nothing more then sport.

Real friendly guys. I think in other areas that'd be called bullying.

:shakes head:

jesus it's hardly bullying is it. He's asked a question and he's had some replies. Some people (me included) can't understand why it's so hard to work out if it's a crack or a sticker when he has the bike infront of him, yet he wants others to decide from a couple or poor pictures. The OP then said he's taking it back to LBS for their expert analysis, and all we want is the report back. Crack or sticker? Is that too much to ask considering he asked us in the first place? All we want is to know what the outcome was. If you think thats bullying yo must have led a very sheltered life

Well, as he's not got back to us, perhaps we can assume that he's had it checked and feels a bit daft about the outcome.

Some people (me included) can't understand why it's so hard to work out if it's a crack or a sticker when he has the bike infront of him, yet he wants others to decide from a couple or poor pictures.

See, that could be considered a bit nasty - you're basically implying that he is an idiot.

All we want is to know what the outcome was.

Maybe.
Or maybe you want to make him FEEL like an idiot and s**** about it in public.
Just sayin', like.

Of course, this could be solved if the OP popped back, told us what happened and had a bit of a laugh about it, just like the very silly headset question, which can now be seen from space and is very, very silly indeed.

well theres a lots of maybe, if's and buts in what you think I (or others) may be asking. Why not be less sceptical? Whats nasty about it, it was a genuine question- is it really that hard to determine?

The OP asked a question, there was some votes for cracks, some for stickers. Think everyone would like to know which. Surely the LBS can work it out if the OP cant?

dave_h: you conveniently missed my last sentence out which I'd hoped would make it clear to anyone (in possession of a sense of humour) that I was joking.

We've already said what could be construed as nasty about it.

Just to confirm, I'll post it again:
He's obviously feeling a bit daft about the matter, or else he'd have replied.
He'd obviously just like to let it lie.

You however, don't.
This suggests you wish to make him feel stupid and s**** about it with a bunch of fellow asshats.
Not very nice is it?

I really am interested in what the outcome is.

I'm have no intention of ripping him as there's nothing to be gained, I just need some closure man!

seeing as your all so interested may be able to help as he is a mate of mine. it had to go back to the shop just in case. and even they were unsure at first. i had a look myself and can say it was strange as they were the only sections on the entire bike with the marking. somehow mud had got under the tape and the tape had then stuck itself down again so you couldnt feel an edge or anything along those lines. the headset was stripped out just in case too but all seems to be ok now

FWIW I found what I thought to be a lot of chipped paint around the back of the headtube of one of my bikes...turned out to be congealed polish.

Yes, I felt silly.

Hmmm 🙄

Grow up lads. The op was only looking for advice from what he thought were like-minded riders.

I for one would like to commend those who have been insulted on the OP's behalf. Well done guys. You saw that someone might not have a sense of humour, or recognise banter, and have done your best to portray the OP's (as yet unknown) feelings.

Well done. My heroes.

great news wasn't a crack.

Grow up lads. The op was only looking for advice from what he thought were like-minded riders.

which is what he got. What we didn't get was an answer if it was a crack or not. It would be good to know just incase someone else's bike cracked in a similar place.
